Auli is one of the most famous winter destinations in India and I traveled here in the month of December last year. I share the complete itinerary from my trip in this video.
Travel dates - 29th December to 4th January
Stay and cost -
Day-1. GMVN ski resort - ~5000 INR per room
Day-2. Cloud End - ~6500 INR per room
Day-3. Nanda Devi Eco Tourist Resort -~7700INR per room (Book this from GMVN website - gmvnonline.com/)
Day-4. Local Stay- 1500 per person
Day-5. Blue Poppy Resort - ~15000 for a room for 5 people.
Ropeway - 1000 INR Two-way
Chair lift - 500 INR Two-way
If this is too pricey for you, you can book your stay in Joshimath where the hotel cost is much cheaper compared to Auli and then you can take a ropeway to Auli and return back in the evening. You'll save a lot of money that way.
What to carry when you travel to Auli in winters-
It will snow in Auli and light woolen clothes will not be sufficient so ensure that you have heavy woolen clothes on you, 3-4 pairs of socks (Woolen socks would keep you warm but if you can't find them, cotton socks can work too), good shoes to walk in the snow, an additional pair of footwear to wear in the room, inner fleece gloves, waterproof gloves, sunglasses to cut the glare, mask/muffler to cover the neck/face, torch with extra battery. You can get snow boots on rent in Auli.
Also, there is no ATM or petrol station in Auli, to withdraw cash or fuel up your car, you'll have to drive to Joshimath.
Hope this was helpful. Enjoy this video!!! :) :)
