Totally TMI. I'm perimenopausal and dry AF everywhere. Everywhere. Women's health provider recommended using a glycerin-rich cleanser for the lady bits. Yep. Use the Gleanser on the face and the vag and it's been a blessing. Have been recommending it to all of my old hag friends and we're all impressed.

I have oilyy skin and I don’t even use actives anymore either. They give me little bumps that aren’t acne but they make me think I have acne so then I use more actives and get more bumps. Now I have smooth skin that’s just shiny, and as an elder I now have appreciation for having a shiny face (except when everything in nature is stuck to it).

I have rosacea and I use : either Prequel Gleanser or the Bioderma Atoderm Face/Body Oil cleanser for cleansing my face and washing/shaving my body. I use salycylic and mandelic acid on my face and body once or twice per week. I also have a Japanese moisturizer toner in a spray bottle to use over the acids. I use the Prequel barrier cream or the Aveeno Restorative Skin Therapy Itch Relief Balm when I need it. Then once per week I wash my hair and body with dandruff shampoo. My redness and itching is nearly gone. It’s really only when I get overheated by spending too long outside. I LOVE the Prequel products but I use my old HG’s when they’re out of stock or I’m waiting on them to arrive. I had to learn the hard way that less is more with my rosacea the older I get.

Actives, y’all… Ever since I got perioral dermatitis I stopped using actives and my skin is better for it. One exception: I put a *very* mild 5% THD vitamin C serum on my cheeks, bridge of my nose and forehead before moisturizer, everything else is super basic glycerin-based products with no acids, enzymes, scrubbers, etc. I 100% believe mindless use of actives (daily) destroyed my skin. If I need to exfoliate I use the M-61 peel pads with vitamin K. Peel pads are great because you control where the product goes, so I apply it only to the parts of my face that are not sensitive and, rather than leave the product on, I let it sit for 5 minutes and rinse it off before applying moisturizer. It’s enough to feel a difference but not enough to trigger a reaction or increase photosensitivity (a highly under-discussed consequence of actives). I do this once every 2-3 weeks. Same as Kackie, haven’t had a *single* zit since. Zits can absolutely be a sign of over exfoliation.

I also love Prequel so much. I use the Gleanser on my hands since it breaks my face out 😭 but omg it is incredible for my hand eczema. I also love the hand wrap, foot repair, vitamin C serum, urea cream, and I recently bought their 20% glycerin serum and the redness serum. We will see. I love them. I excitedly buy virtually every release. Prequel reinvigorated my love for skincare since so many products add shit that just makes rosacea angry.

KACKIE!!!! YES YOU WANT TO MOISTURIZE! I totally understand the "it works for me, might not for you" thing. The running joke of my life is that I'm, what I call, a "dirt baby"...allergic to everything that's not dirt bc I was raised with no chemicals or fragrance, so i'm super sensitive to it. I had KP as a wee child and our Dr. recommended Lanolin, which now you can basically only find as nipple cream. My mom also had to take a needle to my bumps, but that's not the point. You're on the right path with the moisturizer, i think. I'm also right there with you on the "clean" thing in beauty....meh...and yes, our microbiome, i think works a lot like our insides- we can actually build a tolerance and make some allergies go away- I did it with seasonal pollen. ANYHOWS....I'm finding that the smaller acids seem to do the best with my skin, without over drying. and also, seal in your moisturizer at night! I'm guessing you already do that. but I go through the same itch all over thing...and girl, I live in AK, I know what you're going through with your move north. Basic moisturizer, seal with some type of oil based cream, avoid the fragrance bc that's gonna be a whole burny thing to get your skin used to it again.

First aid beauty ultra repair cream has eucalyptus oil in it, so if youre looking for sensitive skin friendly skincare with oatmeal, that one can backfire big time. I tried using it one day after swimming, I swim several miles a week, it absolutely fried my face and body! It turned bright red and burned for ages. It feels sacrilegious to do that to an 'oatmeal' and 'safe for sensitive skin' product.

OMG.... I had never connected my skin barrier issues with the cystic acne on the back of my neck. I'd at least figured enough out to stop using certain conditioners. I will be trying the drunk elephant ones. (I find that the Fakkai Apple Cider detox shampoo, heavily diluted doesn't bother me but I hadn't found a conditioner that was not an issue so have been using only spray on detanglers). I also find that AHAs are not a friend to my skin. CV skinlabs makes a body repair lotion that never stings me but it is about double the Prequel... which I hadn't heard of till now! So happy to have a few other options.

Its the only kind of 'milky' texture ive been able to tolerate so il for sure get another whenever they decide to restock the reg vanilla lip balm. I prefer it after toner but on the few times ive forgotten its worked just as well over serum or moisturizer too. I'm not much into body products myself but i gifted an Osea set during xmas to a friends wife who was preg at the time and she was so excited because she uses their line already. Oh i did not realize saltair has serum deodorants, my target only had the solids or maybe they were in the locked cabinets i avoid ha. might have to just look online and order blindly, ive been using the kosas one for a while because the necessaire stopped working. Idk if they changed formula but the 2nd pkg rendition where the glass was a green hue shifted to a clear is when it stopped working as well. i see now its more opaque?! not sure its even glass anymore
