There's a difference between mismanagement and mistreatment. There have been groups out there that have been minors that were being abused by their company and not able to speak up. I think kpop fans get things a little twisted when they will argue that a company is the worst when there have been issues that are so much more scary but because they are not a popular group, nobody talks about them. Every group deserves to have their needs met, but there are different levels to this, and I think many kpop fans don't know the difference.

And honestly jyps treatment of got7 is WAY worse than the examples shown. In my opinion they shouldn't have said 6 MOST mistreated groups when in reality was 6 groups that were mistreated. There are groups that have been starved, lived in rat holes, sold off to perverts, beaten with their instruments , etc, and that should be acknowledged here.

As a (G)I-DLE stan, it's infuriating to me the way Cube Ent has mismanaged CLC. Like why create a group if you're not gonna support them?? They had so much potential but Cube threw it all away. If I'm not mistaken, CLC members that can write/produce don't even have studios? The company doesn't give them as much creative freedom compared to their other groups and it's so sad. A lot of people use the excuse that CLC is treated differently because they don't bring in as much money to the company compared to (G)I-DLE or Pentagon but that's not CLC's fault, that's Cube's fault for not giving them proper promotion and consistent comebacks. I already knew Cube was trash ass company but the fact that they themselves told the group that they would no longer be supporting them...like wtf. Honestly I'm glad Elkie left and sued them bc they deserve that and much more.

Got7 members actually got SO much offer for starring in a drama, being a brand ambassadors, etc. But that means solo schedule. And it ate their practice and song producing time (solo activities bring less money to the company than group activities). Even though the member says they don't need sleep just let them take the job, the company still doesn't allow them. There's so much offer that rejected from outside Korea too. It's now been revealed, the reason is that schedule outside korea give 70% to the artist and only 30% for the company (cmiiw). Now that Got7 leaves that company, in January only we got 5 of them as magazine covers, starring tv commercials, featuring in online concert, opening their youtube account, etc.

They were mistrated and sometimes if they didnt do a good job while practicing , the staff would hit them, one of the member said that one time he was hitten by an iron stick or a broom, also that they were locked up. They had to tell their parents they were good in the agency, the twins (two brothers taht werein the group) went to a psychologist, and the others we didnt know, but now is known that two members are going to debut again and one is in the military. This is really sad not only because they were literally kids, its sad because the simple thought how many groups has gone trough that and we dont know its just makes me angry. Sad thing is Kpop bands being mistreated is a common occurrence definitely in the past. Even in the top idol company SM Entertainment their idols are treated wrongly. They get chosen to train but the company pays for the training so even when they debut they don’t make money till that debt is paid off. Exo my ult group used to have 12 members and they were made to room together in a small dorm and even share beds. They were malnourished having to share a cheap sushi roll like food (idk the name) some even let the younger members have more and were worked constantly till injuries were caused. All the while they were told from their own company (SM) that they were a flop group. Three Chinese members left, sued Sm due to injuries, mistreatment and believed Sm treated them wrong due to them being Chinese. I know it’s not as bad as some but with it being a big name company you would think it would be different. Nope. Also they hardly ever speak up for their idols unless they think it will hurt their image (Rumour of Kyungsoo terminating his contract) It really makes me sick to even think about it all and even the worst things.

Pretty much all labels mistreat their artists heavily. Some got "better" after artist/group became famous, some didn't at all. Also, would like to add that you shouldn't trust ARMYs either. BigHit isn't evil or worst, but they aren't as nice as fans want to believe. And most certainly they weren't nice to BTS before they became big. The old ARMYs still remember how Korean side of the fandom had to fight the company a lot because of the mistreatment towards BTS. P.S.: CLC deserves all the best :(

I love Got7 and CLC, but I wouldn't say they should be in the "6 MOST mistreated groups in Kpop history". Their company didn't promote them as well compared to other groups in the same company, sure, but still many people know about them and they were able to build a loyal fanbase. I don't see why more people don't talk about this, because that's just unacceptable and wrong point blank.

@@Mariii.iiii19 If I read that correctly, they didn't make any assumptions, they just stated their opinion by saying that bighit is milking BTS, and they also weren't wrong by saying it was common for groups from small companies to get mistreated. Yes, BTS did go through a lot of shit from debut till now, and still continue to get dealt blows from people to this day. But I think it can be very widely agreed that bighit doesn't care about their artists, they're more concerned on getting more money at this point(doing so by milking both BTS and Army). I'm fairly certain that the rise in merchandise and not so subtle advertisements isn't for the fans, it's for more money. They just keep coming out with more products because they know Army will buy them anyway, which is pretty smart on their part since you guys literally bought out an entire detergent line because jungkook likes the fabric softener. Bighit knows how to market, which isn't necessarily bad but saying they care about their artists is definitely a stretch when there's really no need to defend the company itself.

It was proven false that he was a bully, he only had a normal fight during his school years like any other school kids. In my opinion, Korean Fans now are just snowflakes....they take some thing seriously like Hyunjin’s scandal which was a normal school fight (which I had multiple times)

Yeah it’s definitely not the glitz and glam it’s shown to be. These people suffer so much before and if they’re lucky enough to make it in the industry. It’s why we see so many suicides of idols, they’re in really horrible environments and their labels don’t care about them enough to check their mental health. I’m happy for groups like got7 who are able to leave their label.

@@wannabeaworm9529 look at this www.reddit.com/r/kpop/comments/98r17e/profit_distribution_at_kpop_companies_source_in/ Bighit is the only one who actually gives artist more money OVERALL, in some areas JYP, YG, SM artist receive more money some areas less, but if we are talking about physical sales then: Bighit: 50/50 yg: 50/50 jyp: 50/50 sm: 95/5 they might split money equally for physical sales but is other areas they get ripped off, SM is disgusting.

@@minnieegg363 YG is more or less the same with Bighit. It would be a difference of just 3.5 percent of overall profit given to artists. Besides BTS also receive more money outside of stock profit since they're share holders of BH too.

@@wannabeaworm9529 exactly thats why i said bighit's the only one, but YG has changed because of the new CEO and i'm super super happy because things have turned for the better, the old ceo used to gamble all their earnings but now things are so much better including artist wellbeing. JYP is somewhere in the middle still shit and well SM seriously needs to figure themselves out.

Let's not forget how exo was supposed to receive a bunch of awards but instead only gained one and the rest were given to other groups, let's ALSO not forget how they were being pushed around and treated unfairly at awards, that's why they don't go to awards anymore. Any other trophy or medal etc. That they won as given to other groups and it's so messed up.

Some of the GOT7 stuff is wrong and needs to be clarified. GOT7 HAS contributed to over 80% of their discography including their Japanese releases. The way JYPE mistreats them in creativity is that the company only selects songs they feel will do well or go well with the image they want GOT7 to fit even if all the members agree upon other songs or styles. They can not pick their title tracks or anything by themselves however they can submit songs to be reviewed by the company for possible release. It’s important to note that because this video makes it seem like they have no ownership to their music but the reality is G7 has written and composed the majority of tracks on all of their albums since their 2nd year into debut despite the companies push back. GOT7 in January left JYPE as a group with the rights to their name and their music. A few weeks ago they released their first single as a group since leaving their old company called Encore with a self produced song and video which obtained 53 #1’s on iTunes and is doing well on domestic charts in Korea becoming one of their most successful songs. After they left the company it was revealed that JYPE mistreated G7 because the members contracts favored the members over the company. The percentage for domestic(Korea) promotions gave JYPE 60% of the profits while GOT7 only got 40%. But for international promotions GOT7 earned 60% of the profits and JYPE earned 40%. GOT7 upon debut became one of the leading kpop groups all over the world and quickly turned over an international profit the company did not expect. So basically from GOT7’s debut in the music industry they started making more money than the company itself. This is why the company started to sabotage them. Although it is true that GOT7 was highly mistreated by their company and held back however unlike other artist on this list the members of GOT7 have made a lot of money and after leaving the company they have seen even more success. All the members are currently under different companies but unite under Warner Music to promote as a group. GOT7 is considered one of the most popular groups in all of kpop and they have continued to beat the odds and find their own path. GOT7 is currently doing something that the kpop industry has never seen a group do which is to leave their label with complete ownership of their groups brand, sign to different labels but still continue their group, and not lose a single member in the process. Got7 is a 1 in million type of group.

Also things like this have gotten better but slowly. One reason these things happened for years on end: companies spend tens of thousands on training and debuting each idol, and part of the earlier contracts required that $$ be paid back before the idols received any payment from profits. Signing unclear contracts at a young age kept them from being able to pursue legal routes against the company a lot of times, even when they were sure the co was lying to them about profits. Also, since breaching contracts usually meant ruin for their families too, a lot of young idols ended up doing things they were unwilling to do and staying with the company instead of walking away. Those things including staying silent about physical and emotional abuse and even being prostituted out to help the company recoup expenses. It's heartbreaking, all this happening just because they have dreams of becoming artists...

They cant "easily" terminate their contract, thats the problem with kpop artist who are mistreated. Sometimes if they complained or revealed the problem to a broker or news person, sometimes it backfires, so they cant win, eitherway. Sometimes they have to stay/remain silent cause its their only option 🥺

Man there’s so many dark stories in kpop, like Block B was signed to a company and the CEO didn’t paid them and took all the money they were poor as hell and I heard they produced and paid for a lot of stuff which was their label’s work, the CEO disappeared with all the money when this story became public and later he suicided 💀 eventually another label signed them and thankfully they were better treated but sike a loooot of labels are weird AF. Only a few like AOMG/H1GHER music and usually some small k hip hop/rnb label are way more considerate probably because it’s a smaller industry than kpop who sees all the groups as a factory. As for GOT7 the video talked only about a bit but there’s soooo much mistreatment, it wasn’t as dark as some stories but they literally were blocked from everything, unprotected and list goes on, their label literally sabotaged them and blocked their own bag and refused so many opportunities for nothing because their contract was really advantageous like the members gained 70% and only 30% went for the company so the company didn’t even bother to promote them at some point because they thought it wasn’t beneficial, so glad the whole group left the company that’s also very rare usually it’s only some members that leaves, a whole group leaving like that only happened 1 or 2 times in the whole history of kpop.

Jay Park even dissed JYP calling him childish and jealous because Jay Park re-emerged in Sidus HQ (another company) and JYP blocked all SidusHQ actors and actresses from being cast in a drama. Aside from the mistreatment they got from their company, government even pays the company to spread rumors about their employees (mostly idols, eg. dating scandals) to cover government issues.
