Have you been to Hong Kong? What are some of your fav street food there?
@Xeqcme

I've been to HK before, but never had their street food. From what my dad has told me, a lot of the street food is gone! Maybe he just doesn't know where to go for street food anymore, and he just means his old street food locations have moved.

Cheung Fun!!! One of my few memories of life in HK before my family moved when I was 5 (I'm now 65)! My Mom used to send the kids down to the street from our apartment with a bowl and some money. Someone with a cart would come by and sell delicious cheung fun. I still remember the vendor cutting the steaming fun with scissors into our bowl.

Thank you! I have such fond memories of having cheung fun drenched in sweet hoisin sauce and topped with roasted sesame seeds on many a morning at an uncovered street corner stall before walking to school many, many years ago in Kowloon, Hong Kong. Another street food I miss is jee mah woo, sweet, thick, black sesame soup, served hot or cold. We could hear the roaming street hawker from our 7th floor public housing apartment and my father would take an empty pot down to buy enough to share with my family of six. That would be our seo yeah, night snack. Good times...

Hi Janice, the weird after taste of the tofu are from the bad oil they used. Well presented, though there are much more local HK street food you should try. I recently complimented you on your vlog, also hope you will be the next Mark Weins for Australia. I also suggested Mikey Chan is a good vlogger, but one problem, you can't just simply put so much chilli sauce into everything you eat! Good job!

Transportation Make sure you get an Octopus card! You can use it on all public transport; and definitely a lot easier than having to find change for the right amount bc buses don’t usually give change. Money While credit card is accepted at major stores, one of the best ways to get around is still to use cash. Taxi generally don’t accept credit cards, and when commuting on public transport, it’s best you use the octopus card i mentioned above. Restaurants usually accept credit cards too, but if you go to really traditional ones, or if you want street food, then cash is your best bet Language Local language is cantonese but most people in Hong Kong, especially people at the tourist hot spots can speak English :) July in Hong Kong is very hot and humid; and the shopping centres blast aircon really high, so I always bring a light jacket in my bag, but that’s just a personal preference.

@@JaniceFung thanks for such great tips! ^_^ this could help me a lot. By the way, may i ask a question? Is it advisable to buy sim cards there (for 4 days only)? For mobile data/internet? If yes, any advisable brand? (Fast but kinda cheap 😅)

Most people in Hong Kong suffer from choosing difficulties. It's when you have too much restaurant to choose from and too much food choice to choose from. You need to think which restaurant, which food, which combo, which drink, the amount of sugar and ice in your drink and how much you wanna spend.

@@JaniceFung once you've had good stinky tofu, you realize the more funk the better. I learned that in Taiwan, and found the HK stuff lacking. In taiwan, it's in smaller pieces and served with pickled vegetables .. sorta like kimchee or giardiniera. In hk, it's one huge block, with less surface (if you like crunchy) and a huge block of unfried tofu inside (which is fine, but now you dont have a good way to sauce it adequately). It's like durian. A durian with no scent wouldnt be worth eating :).
