Yeah there was another channel Jake and Joel are Magic that I unsubbed from for that exact reason. They thought it was a great idea to keep zooming in on their faces for some reason. It's very uncomfortable to try to watch. I'm like, "Hey get outta my face, dude!"

While I no longer play DanDan or any variants of it, I did play it a lot in the past. I had built a red version utilizing Arclight Phoenix. The deck was loaded with instants and sorceries to fill the graveyard and also ways to wipe the board. It was challenging to balance filling the graveyard while also denying your opponent of phoenixes. I also tinkered with a black version utilizing Gravecrawler as the creature. The downside being that it can’t block. The deck consisted of hand disruption and mill cards as well as instant speed graveyard hate, the best being Rotten Reunion because it also gave you a 2/2 zombie token which you could use to cast a Gravecrawler from the graveyard on your next turn. It was a lot of fun to play while I had the deck together.

Do you still have the decklist?
@ryantomczak2248
4 ай бұрын
@@vivienjoly7617 sadly no, but I remember most of the cards. Breath Weapon was the board wipe in the deck. Deals 2 damage to each non-dragon creature. Faithless Looting and Tormenting Voice for card draw and to fill the graveyard. Cathartic Pyre as a modal spell that could be targeted removal and also draw you cards. I also ran 4 copies of Claim the Firstborn to steal your opponents Arclight Phoenix. I also included the cycling lands for additional card draw. I had one copy of Harvest Pyre as instant speed graveyard hate. Hope that helps. There are more choices of cards nowadays, so I am sure you could build a better version than I had. I would be interested in your deck list if you do decide to build it.

@@vivienjoly7617 If you were asking about the mono black Gravecrawler list, I do not have that list either. I do remember some of the cards. Inquisition of Kozilek was the main source of hand disruption. Dark Betrayal was the targeted removal in the deck. Lots if graveyard hate as mentioned above. A sole copy of Darkness to disrupt a game win, and a ingle copy of Zombie Apocalypse to reanimate all of the zombies. It was fast because most of the cards cost a single black mana. There were some cards I am not remembering off the top of my head. I think I had some cards to mill as well.

Thanks for compiling these dandan variants. Having a shared foretell zone is an interesting point of exploration especially now with the new plot mechanic available.

these all look cool and fun but miss one of my favorite things about the original dandan deck, the ease of tracking. i dont need to keep track of 20 lifepoints in dandan just 5 hits. every source of damage being exactly the same meant i could just give both players 5 lifepoints and that simplicity helped balance the additional complexity of the topdeck battle. also made dandan work really easily as a drinking game

Thats what I also thought was missing here somehow. The easiness to track the game either by life total or by permanents on the board. When more than just the creatures pile up on the board, its starting to get cluttered too Maybe thats also something happening bc of the different views of the format. When I think of Dandan I think of a deck with just 1 card being able to defeat my opponent while the others either support my or disrupt my opponents plan. So this wincon doesnt even need to be a creature

I do enjoy the simplicity of the original DanDan deck, but if I forced specifics like all damage sources being the same amount, it doesn't leave a lot of room for new variants. But I appreciate the feedback!

I love all of these, the white one seems like one of the most fun while the black signature creature is also one I like. The green shifter deck however, seems thematic and fun enough to be it’s entirely own game.

My fav Dandan variant I’ve come up with is all blue 1 mana instants focused on making your opponent drag from the empty shared library. Brainstorm, consider, mental note, thought scour typ cards with mental misstep and disrupt and spell pierce as interaction. Memories journey as a 2 of for that late game tension. I was using the simic temple as the dual land but the new surveil lands works better. The games are pretty fast but always tense and interesting

The white and black decks seem the most interesting. Fish decks are made interesting by their weird land type interactions and library manipulation. But also by the consistency of damage that a lot of these versions lack. There is a promising mono white variant that uses Jötun Grunt and lapse of certainty.

One of my favorite parts of the original Dandan deck is the land destruction. While under normal casual play you wouldn't want to do that sort of thing, in Dandan where you're fighting over the same resources it just seems like a solid part of the arsenal. Yet when I'm watching your conversations about all of these decks, I notice that they're not there. I know you were talking about not focusing on the actual list of the original deck, but I'm still wondering about the exclusion.

The only land destruction from the original I'm familiar with is metamorphose, which I think of as a feature of the original decklist, rather than something needed in all the decks. I did include Tectonic Edge in the colorless deck as a way to remove a problem utility land though

@StrataGames
4 ай бұрын
You definitely could, but I'm not sure what interesting spells you'd put in to make for dynamic gameplay. It's mostly just a big beater that gets better the more you're already winning (since more creatures probably means more winning). Plus the trample would make blocks almost irrelevant.
