Hmmmm.....lovely lovely books! I love Danielle Donaldson too, I did an e-course with her and I love the way she uses Watercolour, and she encourages you to use the grey water / mud coloured paints as well. I love the little project I did with her. The rest of the books you showed are very enticing, I think they are a little advance for me.. it will be a few decades for me to reach that level LOL... and I think I learn watercolour better from watching rather than from a book. Maybe when I improve a little in the near future :) Thank you for sharing your w/c library with us Kari.

Thanks Maria, oh how lovely that you did an e-course with Danielle, I can imagine it was very useful. I agree, seeing painting in action is a lot easier for learning - oh and I feel those artists are quite advanced, but it is good to have something to aim for. I probably need to do two more decades, LOL! 😂💗

Nice selection! You might also really like Hazel Soan's books. Her use of light is stunning, and she is really good at teaching quick watercolour sketching. Her smaller how-to books are also not too expensive. 😊

We are kindred spirits when it comes to colour. Like you I was captivated, especially by the use of colour in figure and portrait work, it does apply to all subjects though, especially whites, or pale tones. And, well, I guess darks are more than blacks and blues too! The books are a treasure, I was just looking at my collection yesterday!

If you were to choose just one of these books and recommend it, which one would you choose? I think the floral one (Flowers in Watercolor) looks like a winner to me.

Oooh, now you have put me on the spot, I am very fond of the Flowers in Watercolour one because she was a tutor of mine and her work is amazing, but I also love the Nita Engle one because her way of working is so fascinating. I also love the Danielle Donaldson one for her colour ideas and the fact that she paints very different subjects that I wouldn't normally choose. Sorry for my delayed reply, YT is playing up with notifications. Oh, by the way, I just subscribed to your channel! 😊💗

There's a way of mixing watercolor paintings with clear tempered glass to make mosaic's. It's beautiful and fun to do. I need to work on doing better watercolor paintings though.

Over the years I've had several Watercolour Books, but I've mostly got them from the library. I find them fascinating. I got hold of one many years ago from the library that took you through a step by step guide to painting a glass of wine and a lovely pink and lemon rose. I ended up giving the painting to a charity shop, but I really loved doing it. At the time I never thought of taking a picture of it, I wish I had. Tfs xo

I have had several over the years and borrowed from the library many, many more too. They really are fascinating and there is always something to learn from them. Shame you didn't photograph your painting, I have sold paintings in the past and forgotten to photograph them too. Oh well, we have the memories of making them, that is just as good! Thanks for watching! x💗😀💗x
