I have been participating in Turns All Year for nearly 7 years, meaning skiing at least once a month every consecutive month. Over these 7 years, I have had a bunch of different ski equipment and gear. Some of the gear are simply tools to get the job done, but a lot of my gear is super sentimental to me because of where I got it, where it has been with me over the years, what it represents, or who gifted it to me. Here I talk about 6 pieces of turns all year gear that are really sentimental to me. All while getting out there for month 83 at Isabelle Glacier.
September 2023 I found my way to Isebella Glacier outside of Brainard Lake for Turns All Year Month 83. I parked at the Niwot Picnic Area and hiked past Lost Lake and Isabelle Lake. Somehow I found my way off the trail past the third of 4 lakes which added some time and awkward scrambling to the trip. I did get to see a family of moose which made the detour worth it. I eventually found my way back on the trail, up the stair stepper, and onto the glacier. I few icy, sun-cupped turns and month 83 was completed. Turned out to be a 13 mile day due to some unexpected detours which only increased my smiles per hour for the day.
Fingers crossed for some October snow so I can take the easy way out and use the lifts next month to complete year 7.
