Another fantastic video, Barry. Have had my 6S-80 for a few weeks now, and being my first foray into sim racing, and seeing your positive feedback is nice to hear. As others have mentioned, Stanley at 6Sigma has been a pleasure to deal with.

Not familiar with the other products in the other regions, but in Canada here, the good price/performance rate aluminum profile sim rig brands are the ASR, 6Sigma and GTOmega. This 6S-80 rig is directly compared to the ASR4(yes, 4, not ASR3), and the GTO prime cockpit, the 80 has the cheapest price tag within these 3 models.
@IvebenKruzen
2 жыл бұрын
Sorry but the 6S-80 does not compare to the ASR4. The 6S-80 is 80 series profile while the ASR4 is 120 series profile. So you would have to compare it to the ASR3 which is 80 series profile and even then the ASR3 has a much stronger pedal tray and wheel deck. The 6S-80 upright attachment method is the only place where I see it wins over the ASR3. As far as price goes the 6S-80 is cheaper then the ASR3 only because it is currently on sale and comes with a weak pedal tray.
@sixx1095

@@IvebenKruzen no matter how heavy how big the base is, if the poles sit on the beam, they provide the same sturdiness because of the structure. But if ASR is willing to use the little bit wider deck beam and keep the poles on the side on the ASR3, it’s gonna kill it
@IvebenKruzen
2 жыл бұрын
@@sixx1095 Yes the uprights on the ASR3 would have slight movement with a DD base for sure but so does the wheel mounting plate on the 6S-80. Doesn't matter where the movement is, it's going to be felt or seen at the wheel. ASR3 needs a better upright solution and the 6S-80 needs a better pedal tray and wheel deck solution. Maybe combine both ;)

Yeah I prefer the beefier t nuts as opposed to the easier to assemble spring loaded ones especially for the real structural connections. For things like drink holder, keyboard and mouse trays etc etc spring loaded is fine.

For anyone that is interested, the difference in the profile used isn't just related to what comes out of China, rather the specification of profile. I did alot of research on this when building my SFX-100 as I built my electronics box out of T slot profile and the 100x100 profiles. Using a company like item24, you find that the profile used on this chassis is the "light" spec. The profile with nothing added to the name is more representative of the standard spec, which is the same as the profile you shown from Europe (p1-x for example). You can also get a Heavy grade spec, as well as some other interesting profiles with interesting gusseting. Overall, it appears that these guys have just run for the cheapest profile.
@sixx1095
2 жыл бұрын
I didn’t know there was difference between the profiles before I got into the profile cockpit. Yes, these are the “light” profiles, but they are not called Chinese profiles because you can buy the profiles spec as 4080H or 4080L from China, found out when I tried to mod my rig. TBH, I am more than happy to use the Light ones over the Heavy if that can cut me the cost. I don’t think and I have never seen(yet) that anyone was able to bend the profile during sim racing.
@ishannage248
Жыл бұрын
Im just curious if light profile vs heavy profile makes any negligible difference when it comes to using it in sim racing. I just ordered the 6S-120 and also went to the ASR warehouse as im local to check out their rigs. They also showed me how the thickness of the aluminum is significantly thicker than what is offered at 6S. However when comparing the ASR 4 120mm rig to the 6S-120 does the thicker spec of profile really make any difference for the 300ish dollars more in the price in terms of performance, not considering ease of assembly, customer service, etc.
@Cobra206

3:20 not true, the contact surface is similar, the wider nut is stronger in itself, but the forces exerted on the profile, in both cases, are similar.

I have the 6S-80 with a simagic alpha mini and the P2000 pedals. Since the Alpha mini comes with it's own mounting bracket I never used the 6 Sigma bracket for the wheelbase and I have absolutely no flex. The pedals are still with their stock spring configuration straight out of the box and I have no flex there either. I will be playing around with the stiffer springs soon and hopefully the rigidity of the pedal mount stays solid. I will however lay down the seat base profiles like you did because I do get that "truck driver" feel, but other than that I have 0 complaints as far as how solid this rig is. A future upgrade will be a Sigms Integrale 4 actuator motion system. Now since this rig is on the lighter side would I be able to get away with a Dk2 or would you recommend a Dk2+
@tcs007

I was curious about this because the p2000's have that massive plate that they're attached to. I would think with either large fender washers on the bottom side of the mounting plate or even some plates to sandwich the foot rest between them would increase rigidity quite a bit.
