As a video from a non fitness channel this was surprisingly good and factual. Nice to see mentions of progressive overload. However few things I have to pick at. For the push-ups, doing the reverse hand posture if untrained for can cause damage to the wrists with no reason for it. Triceps are a secondary muscle for pushups, but doing the "diamond push-ups" where you put your hands close together in front of you making a diamond shape will engage your triceps more. Doing what was shown in this video will do no more for your triceps than a regular pushup. Also for the curls , talking about putting your body is a very bad idea as this encourages bad posture and form, pulling the weight up does damage to your back overtime and is a bad happy to get into. Sure I get cheating the last few reps to get eccentric overload (weight going with gravity) but encouraging the cheat form is how people get injured. However , overall. Fantastic video 👏👍

@@843peewee it's not even a tricep focused exercise
@843peewee
5 жыл бұрын
Sunny Money it is primarily a chest exercise, however the close grip variation is almost equally tricep focused. And the reason I program this for my clients is because it’s the only barbell compound lift for the triceps. Meaning it is perfect for applying progressive overload over a long period of time. The idea is to get as strong as possible on this exercise. For example if you can do 5 reps at 125 lbs, and after 12 weeks you can do 5 reps at 175 lbs. your triceps will be noticeably larger. It’s not about isolating the muscle. It’s about forcing it to grow and adapt to a heavier load.
@sunnymoney7204
5 жыл бұрын
@@843peewee the only problem is that exercise places the load on your chest shoulders and triceps, your chest and shoulders taking on the brunt of the weight the only part that hits your triceps is the top portion but by then your chest did most of the work, that leads to barely overloading the triceps if at all.

I do know some exercises without equipment for arms: Tricep: - Dips on bench/chair - Tricep Pushdown Bicep: - Chin up (you need a barbell where you can hang on like in park , sorry for my English - plank variations (also for forearms and triceps) - grabbing your leg and lift It towards you Perhaps this works for you (all) Im not a trainer, but I workout and want to help you It is not easy for arms without equipment, same for other muscles. It is easy for legs though. (Squat+lunges variations but also if you have a chair you can do step ups and you can also do hip thrusts and donkey kickbacks) If you have a barbell, dumbell, bench, chair and something where you can hang on then you have, to be honest, everything you need. Otherwise plates, landmine barbell, balls, cables are also great things to use. Cheers

Just do pushups for triceps. There are an extremely large variety of different pushup types, and it's safer(also for your joints/tendons) and more natural than using loose weights. Until you reach that one-finger-legs-off-the-ground pushup level, pushups will keep you busy. Try to go for 2 seconds down, 1 second hold and 2 seconds up. This will ensure you get very high joint, tendon and muscle strength. Don't forget to keep elbows reasonably close to your sides while doing it to make sure those triceps get activated.
