Feels so normal to me! Here in Tuscany, Italy we have this thing for making mortadella sandwiches, but the bread buns are made with rosemary and raisins. Try it!

@Daniel Lilley Just because he has a great pallette it doesn't automatically mean he gets crazy with his food combinations though. Also the weird combination wasn't the bagels and the cheese, it was the cinnamon and raisins together with the cheese.

Not the Chile flakes...we dont really eat spicy food in Italy (unless of course it's something exotic); but cheese and olive oil are pretty common in South Italy

@@gab.lab.martins in South Italy yes...tho it's mostly for aromatic purposes, as in oil or butter or pasta. It is not used in chunks like they do in non-European countries. As for North Italy, we dont use peppers at all...we cannot handle spices haha

@@DavideGobbicchi that's my point. Gochugaru is not hot, it's a mild, sweet, and aromatic chile, used mostly for aroma and colour. The level of spice is equal or lower than pepperoncini.

Harold's pairing makes perfect sense to me... grew up in the islands with a mango "tree house" out back... there was NOTHING better than putting seasoned salt on an unripe green mango. Got in trouble with our moms constantly because we ate so much of it we'd have major stomach aches later!!!

Avocado and condense milk is a very common pairing in some parts of Asia. My grandparents, who are Vietnamese, would always mix and serve the two ingredients for me to eat and it”s so tasty! ☺️

Of course it still lacks the friendship, intimacy, and the social chemistry that the old BA crew had... They were together for years, and thats something not easy to replicate. It will takes time to the new crew develop its own personality and style, but it will happen eventually. Still, its good to se them interacting

In the Philippines, avocado is normally used for desserts. Avocado ice cream, avocado ice candy, and more. But what Samantha did was the most common and traditional one, chilled avocado with condensed milk is the best! 🇵🇭

my family and I are loving those kinds of pairing. Avocado juice with condensed milk, shrimp paste ( + chilly and brown sugar) with fruits (sometimes raw sweet potato and cucumber), chicken wings with honey, sweet mango with chilly flakes and black pepper on top, and one of my favorite, avocado, ginger, lemon, and honey juice. but sometimes I think that those pairs are weird, but sometimes they're not.

My favorite weird bagel pairing is a whole wheat bagel with strawberry cream cheese and sprouts, the sprouts have a nuttiness that brings out the nuttiness in the whole wheat, and they have a little crunch for some texture. Bagels are a great forum for interesting combos!

non of these is weird, strawberries and soy sauce maybe but the others are normal, sweet avocado is great if you have not tried it. my favourite way to eat sweet avocado is super ripe avocado with sugar and milk powder and mix together until smooth . it has a soft-serve texture and is very yummy

In Costa Rica we do something like Harold's take. Green mango sticks with worcestershire sauce (Lizano, of course). But the freakiest stuff I think it would be melted marshmallows on milk with a dash of dried oregano (abuelas recipe) when you have a cold

The strawberries and soy sauce is basically the same idea as the shrimp paste with green mango. Adding salty flavor to a sweet fruit. The more intense salty flavor of the paste just needed some sourness as well to match it but it's not uncommon in the Philippines to swap the shrimp paste for soy sauce.

In northern Brazil, people love "avocado smoothie" (abacatada), which is avocado + milk + sugar/condensed milk shaken in the blender. Actually, thats the main, if not the only usage of avocado you will find around here, and most people have never tried or heard abour salty/savory combinations with avocado, such as guacamole and avocado toast, which are so common in the United States.
