I would suggest is more of a hobby-project thing, PVC pipes aren't just used for actual plumbing. It might help a lot in a pipe blown emergency kind of situation, stiffen up the break and distribute pressure so you can throw half a roll of ductape over it to limit the water damage when you don't have access to the stopcock. Plumbers don't have teleporters, they take a while to show up.

I was always so impressed! The only thing he did that impressed me more was his green thumb! While he could take little twigs, a leaf or a piece of root and get it growing into a new plant! This was a rather convenient trade off as my mom was so bad with plants, she could kill an air plant. Hell, I wrote a “suggestion” to Georgias Department of Transportation that if they ever wanted to get rid of the kudzu all over the interstate, just ask my mom to take care of them! I think after reading the comments some folks missed the point of all this. You can get something repaired temporarily or make springs if one is needed for a car break down. A drill bit in a pinch. I've been using the same type of foam protector on my drill face for years. Fantastic idea on the water bottle trick. I can even see other types of bottle diameters for different size pipes. Even a vacuum hose fix. Not having much money growing up, my Dad taught me many tricks and many times in my life I've had to use my imagination to fix a problem to make it last until repaired properly! In fact it made me one of the top producers in my field. Hard rock miner. And highly sought Mine foreman and then Superintendent. I became the guy they called when a ground collapse occurs. All due to figuring out best possible solutions and fixes. I'm retired now and enjoy learning and applying new ways to get by when the chips are down.
