Visiting Japan for the second time now in April. This time we're going on a roadtrip from Fukuoka up to Osaka. As a german I was shocked how slow the traffic laws are in japan😅 But I am still suuper excited!!

Really helpful videos! If you can make videos about driving on local road area and necessary rules that will be really nice... because I have seen many times everyone driving always over the defined speed limits on the local road....

Thank you for your sharing. I often wondered where the cash lane is. I guessed its always on the extreme left haha. The system is similar in Malaysia.👍

Anyone else get borat vibes?? Lol VERY NIIIICE 👍 Good, informative video tho. Ive driven a few times in japan coming from Canada. It takes me an hour or so adjusting to the other side of the road but its not that difficult. As long as you use general common sense regarding safety, you should be fine. One thing i would say is, if you're driving thru the city and you hit train tracks, be sure to come to a complete stop before proceeding. Do not just slow down and roll thru. And use the convex mirrors stationed around corners. Very useful. Lots of blind corners.

So the ETC is very similar to EZ Pass in the US. We however do not have these toll booths AT the entrance and exit. In fact they for the most part dont exist in my state.

Hi, thank you for your video it was very informative, May i ask if you will need snow tyres when driving from Fujikawaguchiko to Takayama between the 10th to 13th of November 2024. Your advise would be very appreciated. We will be driving the whole way during our holidays.

Pro tip: you better know exactly where you're going because if you get lost and need to get off the highway to turn around...the exits are many kilometers apart and you will have to pay the toll again.

Very useful indeed. I did self driving in Japan, as a tourist, some ten years ago, and will be doing this again in coming May. I've heard that some gas stations in Japan are now self-serving. Is this the case and are there anything special that we've to pay attention to so as to ensure proper refueling?

Thanks for your comment! Sorry for not uploading videos. In 2020, I plan to go for more of vlog style of Takayama. I am not sure if it will be well-received by my viewers, but I feel that is the style I will enjoy making videos with. Hopefully, 2 videos coming up in January. Again, thanks for your comments. It means a lot to me to know that there are people still kindly waiting for my upload!

If your rental bike has the ETC system, yes it is generally the same. Though rental bikes with ETC are less popular than rental cars with ETC. So you may need to pay in cash. Hope this helps :)

As someone who's used to have a steering wheel at left side it's really confusing to drive with the steering wheel on right. That's why foreigners are causing so much car accidents in Japan I believe.
