Another thing in October I noticed in NV is they ALWAYS hang out on the steepest north facing chutes they can find. Top 3rd feeding in morning then bedded in bottom 3rd mid day.

So here’s my thing I know where the mule deer are but I don’t know how to close in on them. I’ve been bow hunting for a couple days now and the closet I’ve got is 96 yards. Any tips anyone? And I live in Wyoming if that means anything.

I'm only seeing does at tree line and up in September. Everyone says go higher for bucks. I literally can't go higher. Nothing makes sense. I ended up going lower and still only does. I've seen 100s of does in 2 days. No bucks.

Andrew thanks for reaching out! Wyoming and Montana would be a good start...any state that has antelope hunting would be a good species to apply for and pursue. In most open country cases you could essentially hunt from a vehicle and it's likely to get shot opportunities within close proximity of a road. The same goes for mule deer, take a look at eastern Montana or WY. Start by researching areas that are primarily BLM and consist of open rolling sage and grasslands. Really hope you find this helpful and please reach out with any additional questions!

Andrew I know plenty of folks who hunt from roads and trucks. Your best best is to find the dirt roads and find a remote area with a good vantage point that you can set up in. Use a rifle you're familiar with and be patient! let the game come into your zone. I also have lower mobility and so I focus on my glassing and on my marksmanship. Being patient and focusing on one area is a solid strategy for anyone

Also, is it true that hunting Mule deer in open range cattle areas in SE Arizona is not good? I got drawn for 30A, lots of open cattle ranges.

Tips 2 and 3 feel like they're based on this guy's intuition and preference, but it didn't seem like he had a strong reason for them other than the understated fact that he expects to find more deer in isolated areas, but that was only applicable to Tip 2. It's fine to give tips based on intuition and preference _if your audience has a relationship with you_ which could be achieved in a video series, but it's less effective in a stand alone video or with strangers.

Do these tactics work for California mule deer?
@GOHUNT

Hey Joshua! Most likely those tips would work for California depending on the area. But a lot of it would still work just fine. Might need to modify it some based off elevation, desert conditions, etc.
