On Monday 10th June 2024, as part of the Bathurst Steam Weekend event, steam locomotive 6029 led its train unassisted from Bathurst to Orange and return.
It left Bathurst on a cool morning at 8:20 am and made a spectacular sight climbing the famed Tumulla Bank. There were some brief showers further west from Blayney. The train returned from Orange later in the afternoon in dry but overcast conditions.
The following morning, on Tuesday 11th June 6029 led a long train made up of the amalgamated tour and support trains with diesel locomotive 4916, 4201 and 4501 marshalled mid train.
This video follows the Monday's train to Orange and return and also includes two clips from Tuesday's run back to Sydney.
