I love the Yamato's Hangar and launch scheme, even though it is relatively slow, and landings must be a serious pain.

i like to think both this fan version and the Official Version were being alittle Dramatic, i like to think this is alittle faster then this, even some thing going at the same time, like the Rotating to a new Fighter ON the Platform happening right when the First Fighter gets on the Thin Platform to be launched
lets take into account the fact there is no gravity in space unless they were close to a planet, that being said they launched the space planes out facing forward not backward, never saw them launching from any side/upper deck either. All of this aside its some nice 3DCGi stuff and obviously a lot of thought and time went into this beautiful piece of art so props to the creator!

Yeah, if you have to design a ramp to hinge downwards anyway, why not have the hinge on the other side so they are leaving facing forward? It seems like they just wanted to be odd for oddity's sake. I suppose you could argue it's so it makes it easier to return/land in the bay? *shrug*

That's the reason they shoot them out tail-first, so the same bay can be used for recovery without needing room to flip them around inside the hangar.

But launch is an easier affair, since you are moving away from an object you can collide with. They would prefer to be facing forward as they approached the ship.

I do wonder however what they do if a particular Falcon need to be moved to another place for repairs or whatever... In the series when Yamamoto steals one to duel with Melda they say it was one of the Falcons under repairs and it was suposed to be in one of the 2 side bays (where the Type100 and SeaGulls are). Unless they knew that Falcon needed repairs before landing they would had to move it to the ventral bays from the revolver rig... wich if full of Falcons (the usual) seems like a big mess. Maybe every ring had a couple of free pallets to move planes forwards or backwards?
@procrastinatinggamer

Odds are it was identified as needing repairs ahead of time, so they could just fly it right into the side hangar. Or by keeping the hangar bay in zero-g, they can just put it on the primary carousel (shifting another fighter into its space or just out of the way) and rotate that carousel until the damaged fighter is in the launch position. As for what 2ByQ said about landing backwards in space - I expect it was designed that way because the Yamato was meant to operate both in space and within a planet's atmosphere so you need a way to recover the fighters that works in both environments.
They certainly learned to bring more fighters with a battleship like this.

I really love this :D it looks pretty realistic for the universe, with all the rotating stuff and the fighter catapults that look like they could actually be a thing in universe (they look very WW2 ish, the F-104 design elements also look very neat in combination) No matter how realistic this is, i mean, its space battleship yamato, that stuff aint hard sci fi. It looks super dope tho.

@@koldaussie Its quite characteristic if you look at the ratio between wing and fuselage, there is a lot of fuselage before the wing part starts and the wings are pretty stubby, but what i find much more interesting is the origins of the main force fighter (the F-104 style one seems to be more hero unit or scout? idk ive never watched it) but the main force looks a lot like the shit stitch escapes in in Lelo and Stitch (with more fighter components but the frontal design is pretty similar)

When the old Manchete Television Network, a pioneer in the exhibition of anime in Brazil brought the "Patrulha Estelar" for the first time in Brazil, it made a large impact on the youngster's audience. Unfortunately only the last two sagas were aired, the first being left aside by the TV station. Even so it would form a huge and loyal legion of fans who never abandoned the franchise and seeing this kind of animation brings a great nostalgia. Who has never dreamed of the Yamato crew and their adventures?
Wow! Very nicely done. I love the mechanical actions. You might want to think about adding some atmospherics and some dirt and scratches to the hard surfaces.

First off, well done creator of this! It looks pretty awesome, and I have watched it a few times now. I agree with commenters below, that there are some very big issues, but at the same time I can see it being quite logical. Forward facing launch: Your enemy is ahead of you, this allows you to fire area-effect armaments straight after launch if required. Due to most launches being made in space, only a minimum amount of thrust to push the weight of the craft forward is needed in the first few seconds to move it out of the road of the next craft, that or just barrell roll it like one of the craft did in the vid. Revolver style storage: For those who have watched the series, be it the Original or the Space Battleship Yamato remakes, there is no gravity in the storage area of the craft unless they are being repaired. This allows the pilots to float to their craft which negates the use of stepladders and other clunky pieces that would take up space. Also, the side launch where the Pelicans and the two Cosmo IIs fly from at times is also generally set to no gravity unless repairs are being made. Then there is the catapult launchers which the original battleship had. I think this is an effective way of saving space to store craft, but there are a lot of improvements to be made also. Great bit of video though!
come here to watch this again, love how mechanicals work here, and judging the size of Yamato hangar, this is the most efficient way for her, she's not a carrier anyway.

@@Restilia_ch A dedicated carrier with this style system? Upwards of one thousand or more, assuming they used a vast majority of the hull as one massive hangar. Even more if they had fighters already parked on deck, like you see in IRL. And to be quite honest that's all that would be needed. With the wave motion engine taking up very little space, the entire carrier could be nothing more than one big hangar. They'd need a few weapons storage areas for hard ordinance like missiles, bombs, and mines, and a small crew area for carrier crew and aircrew, along with fuel for the fighters, but beyond that, it could be nothing but fighters.
