"These are the songs that really touch my heart, and I can play them endlessly without ever getting tired of hearing them. Those sweet delay-tinged guitar tones, playing hypnotic melodic loops, interlocking with another guitar and a deep bassline. There's nothing better than that in my opinion. Throw in a latin influence and you have a match made in heaven."

“This is William aka Skinshape. I am glad I was asked to do this mix because any opportunity to have another listen through my favourite African vinyl collection is a blessing. In particular, I treasure the vinyl singles, as the music is often not found on LPs, and the sound quality is often better. I've been through my collection and selected some of my favourites songs to show you. I find myself drawn to the less western influenced African music, rather than the upbeat Afro funk and Afrobeat that is more popular. This is what I wanted to showcase here.
These are the songs that really touch my heart, and I can play them endlessly without ever getting tired of hearing them. Those sweet delay-tinged guitar tones, playing hypnotic melodic loops, interlocking with another guitar and a deep bassline. There's nothing better than that in my opinion. Throw in a latin influence and you have a match made in heaven.
Most of the tracks on this mix are from Congo, but there are a few from Tanzania and one that is possibly from Kenya (although i'm not sure!). All songs are from original vintage vinyl there are no reissues.”
