Is MPLAB X actually useful now or its still as bugged up and enemy of the end user as it was 8 years ago? This program was so bad that it can cause people to commit suicide, marriages to end, children to become orphan, spouse to become widow and parents to lose their children in old age and have no one to look after them. It can certainly make lot of money for mental hospitals though.

My PIC24fj wouldn't work with the MLA libraries. I kept getting a processor doesn't match (I have a PIC24fj256GA705) error. I did get it working however, I used an ESP32 as a UART to USB Bridge and I imagine you could do the same with Arduino and definitely a USB to TTL converter.

Do you know that proteus isn't perfect simulation and often (especially with PICs), programs won't work on real hardware even though it works on proteus ?
@StudentCompanion
3 жыл бұрын
There is no simulation that can be better than the hardware in the real environment. But in design or in teaching there are so many advantages of using simulation. Everything is not also simulated the same, some are hard and some are almost as in real hardware. Proteus is also among the best in this field of simulation and if configured properly and knowing its limitations, its simulation is realy quite good and from my experience it doesn't disappoint in hardware.

Hello Sir, I am struggling to program my code in my microcontroller using easypic v7, i wrote the code and it ran successfully, yet it write something like " Implicit conversion of pointer to int" ,"Implicit conversion of int to ptr", "Varaible 'temp' has been eliminated by optimizer" & " Variable 'mV' has been eliminated by optimizer" what could it be wrong?, because i can write the code(programme) on my microcontroller while connected with easypic v7 but it doesn't dispalay anything on the LCD display!! even if i try to blink an LED there is nothing!! and when i check if my microcontroller is blank or not, it say its not blank!!! please help if you can, thank you.

Why are you still using the PIC18F4550? This is an obsolete part, and it costs more than the modern equivalent. If you can even find it available, it is $6.50 - $7.00 apiece, whereas the PIC18F45K50 is practically the same part and is more readily available, and only costs around $2.50. Also, the newer part doesn't require an external crystal and supporting caps, so is easier to use in USB applications. The same could be said for the PIC16F1455/59, which costs even less and would work great in these tutorials. I'm not trying to criticize, I just think you'd want to make things easier for students trying to learn this stuff. Otherwise, great tutorials!
@StudentCompanion
3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your feedback really appreciated. Yes we know the PIC18F4550 is obsolete and we don't usually use it in our tutorials. If you check the link of the USB CDC article to our website, we used the PIC18F45K50 which is more modern and cheaper. And in the next tutorial we will use the PIC18F45K50 with MCC which is the tool that Microchip is pushing for the future . The reason we used this old PIC is because is supported by Proteus simulation which doesn't support newer models. Many people especially students still rely on Proteus simulation for their development. So we thought we will consider two approach to cover everybody, old tool with Microchip Libraries for Applications with Proteus and also new PIC with MCC with hardware. Thanks.
@SharlsDavisKendy

@@StudentCompanion Another point I should have mentioned...the last time I checked, MCC does not support the 18F4550, so you can't teach setting up with MCC.
@StudentCompanion

We will use MCC with the PIC18F45K50 in the next video.
