The "you'll kill your engine without an air cleaner" gang cracks me up every time. You can log thousands and thousands of street miles without an air cleaner- won't wear down cylinder walls, rings, or valves. At all. Zero. None. Nada. Zip. If you're off-roading, then heck yes an air cleaner. The little bit of dust and crude you see on street engine old air cleaners when divided by hundreds of thousands of cylinder cycles = zero engine wear on the street. My opinion comes from building street and off road engines for many years. PS- super sweet ride you have.

Absolutely beautiful car. Wonderful job on it from bumper to bumper. Some saying, "Well, I would have done this or done that." It's your baby, and your $$$$$ and it's done with your preference from top to bottom. Thanks for showing my DREAM CAR! My uncle bought one off the showroom floor when I was born in 57. A coupe big block. I remember it was a beautiful yellow with white fins. And he always kept it in his garage. I was 13 when he passed away, his son got the car, and my cousin the dumbass traded it for a 16' fishing boat with a 40 hp Johnson. He had no idea what a gold mine of a car he practically gave away.

It's an awesome build. Love the metal smithing on the air induction with AIR CLEANER. ;-) Only thing I'd do different is ditch the long shift lever and move it all back toward the seat a few inches. Make a cutout in front of seat if needed. That long lever and position just seems way wrong for that kind of horsepower.

@@nikolasstankovic6794 technology has brought us a long way though. A 1957 Chevy from the factory was almost ready to be retired at 80,000 miles. Today we are seeing gas engines not needed a tune up until they hit 100,000 miles, and vehicles are running for 300,000+ miles with owners that watch and replace fluids and don’t trash them otherwise. It would be nice to have a car that doesn’t rust out in 5 years up north though.
@UmmYeahOk
3 жыл бұрын
@Troy Benson the car we are looking at is a restomod, not an original 1957. I don’t know if I can say that I daily drive any vehicle, but the 2015 Tesla Model S I drive is boring. Too much tech, but at the same time, very reliable, very powerful, superior to any car Ive ever own. I also drive a 1994 Mustang, which used to be my daily driver since 1998, but I’m lucky to put 2000 miles on it a year now, simply because I don’t drive as often in any vehicle as I used to. The car is loads of fun, even if it’s not as safe, reliable, or powerful as the Tesla. I also have a 1967 Triumph GT6, which is 10 years newer than this Bel Air, and no, I would NEVER daily drive that. For one, it isn’t a restomod like this 57 is. It has no AC. So when it left me and my 6yo daughter stranded in 105 temperatures, it was probably 120 degrees in the cabin. It also doesn’t have the modern collapsible steering column that this 57 now has, so if I end up in a front end collision, that steering wheel will be what kills me. The tires are 6 inch wide, so, really, 5 inches of tread. And if I take a corner too fast, that’s 1-3 inches of tread depending on what the rear leaf spring wants to do. Pray I don’t hit a bump. This 57 has modern wheels, with modern suspension. The 57 is safer than my 67, and minus the airbags, probably as safe as my 94. Driving the 94 mustang on the highway is scary. I do it, but not often as I used to, if I can avoid it. I wouldn’t even dream of driving the 67 Triumph on the highway, ever. It’s just too small next to all these insanely huge SUVs and trucks everyone keeps buying. Driving it on public roads is pretty scary. But if people can ride motorcycles on it, I shouldn’t have problems in a car. The 57 is much smaller (height-wise) to modern vehicles, so that really would be my only issue with daily driving a restomod 57. I LOVE the bench seat, but I’d imagine not having any bolsters, being a little uneasy in turns. DEFINITELY would need seatbelts if I had one. ...on any car, really.
