When the wind gets very strong like that, don't be afraid to start the engine and motor in to the wind. It can help take the load off the anchor tackle. It does use fuel, of course, but it eases the load on the tackle and it can help ease the dreadful yawing at anchor. Such is the sun attraction of the Med but the wind can turn very nasty indeed. I'd sooner have my Scottish haunts and we won't charge you £100 a night for a Tayana 37. Fair winds.

Just get the biggest best bower you can fit / handle, use it all the time including in storms. You never know when a thunderstorm or squall will whip up strong winds and it's best to be prepared with a decent anchor, importantly well bedded in with the engine.

We learn quickly NOT to rely on weather forecasts. It does pay to learn how to read and interpret weather charts yourself. Remember, in most cases having too much fetch is the killer. The wind itsself isn't what pulls your anchor loose.

I too love adventure. My father in law had a sail boat. My brother has had one for many years.. I enjoyed these times. The only sailing I have done was a small catamaran not too far from Cozumel Mexico. However... You are sailing at that speed... and have a dream catcher on board. YOU CLEARLY DON'T UNDERSTAND THE DANGER. You have to remove symbols of the spirits, for it is not of the God of Israel it represents, and you are CURSED by it. Clearly you don't recognize this as a danger, or you would never invite it. in anything you do. Not just sailing, but asking for trouble. Believe me, eventually you'll find it.
