Making headway! seems to me like you have some alignment issues definitely going on. Either the rear quarters were replace and not aligned properly or the frame rails were replaced and set too high, something is definitely going. That wavy channel does serve an important purpose and making sure the bottom door seal stays in place when shut, so removing it or bending it backwards make cause issues if you intend to run the seals. With all that said in done, I wonder if the door would shut with a door seal if the tolerances are that tight, if it will shut, then maybe eliminate the track and use the 3M glue and some flat pan style screws to keep that bottom gasket in place might be something to consider.

the frames rails were replaced, but I'm assuming you're referring to that outer rocker panel, which was not replaced. i also replaced the rear quarter panels, however they were replaced using the doors for alignment, so they should be in the correct place as well. the doors are aftermarket though and were replaced after all the others parts were installed. i used the original doors for alignment of the quarter. i regret scrapping them early.. with all this trouble, it would have been easier to make repairs on the original door i think. they were in rough shape though as they were already "repaired" several times previously. i wouldn't need to take off all of that channel, just knock down the tips of the rounded humps to they have less a chance of scraping. they should still hold the door seal in place. i definitely plan to have door gaskets, and they gaskets did make it a snug fit closing the door.

@@callofgeorge I did mean the outer rocker (brain fart). With all that you have said, it could be a slight difference in the OEM door vs the repo doors. I have done a few mustangs and have never seen that channel even come close to hitting. Even on my 66 mustang with sagging doors, that channel does not hit. Knocking down the channel might be your only solution. I would just be curious to know if the door is that close to the bottom of the rocker, will the gasket even fit.

@@stangatic6621 the previous shell i had did the same and i had a door gasket on it. i definitely had to slam the door to get it to shut and it made the door bulge out past the body lines when shut in some areas.. granted it was new door gaskets and they weren't very soft, so we'll see soon when i get this one epoxied and remounted. thanks for the info.
