The content is fun and interesting, but what keeps me (and my family) coming back is the goodness that radiates from your family. Great values (work ethic, honesty, frankness) and being completely comfortable in "your own skins." We used to be (Americans) unashamed of making money from hard work, and it's helpful to have that message ("Industry and commitment equal success") affirmed. We get out of life, and relationships, what we put into it/them. Love your family.

Blooper reels at the end of your videos would be awesome, you must have lots of bloopers with the amount of videos you produce. The key for me with you tube videos and i suspect many others is the person doing the videos likeable....would i get along with that person in real life, your family has nailed that for me which is why i watch ALL of your videos.

Mike - as I watched Melissa come up behind you, tap you on the shoulder and make you jump, followed by the less than pleased look you gave her, I had to smile. My wife does that to me as well, although most times she will throw something in my direction or flash the shop lights to get my attention. It's easy to get lost in your own little world of what you are doing at the time - especially if you are using the ear muffs with a radio in them. Maybe you could return the favor to Melissa a few times...on camera of course. :)

Is it possible to turn the sawdust and slabs into wood pellets for a pellet stove? I've read briefly you can load up a hopper and it will automatically feed for about 24 hrs.. Seems to me to be more efficient than loading a woodstove every couple of hrs. Bin there done that.Just thinking.

your suggestion of the "whole process" from cutting down to sealing to milling and drying would be awesome... I'm on the cusp of buying a mill, but haven't determine what kind or at what price point I'm willing to invest... lots of hills so trying to decide on a trailer or fixed location... its either gonna get spent on being able to move the logs or move the mill... plus a winch and who knows what else. Haha... Would be curious to hear about all the extras that you didn't imagine when you bought the mill. I'm not completely caught up on past episodes so you may have already addressed that. - Josh

@@Stihl4life I have not checked them out... Frankly I'm all over the map at the moment. Haha... I have a local distributor of Hud-Son which was a brand I hadn't heard about a week ago. But they have a showroom so i'm gonna go check them out. I've been researching Woodland, Woodmizer, Norwood, Frontier, and TimberKing. My biggest issue is moving logs around my property to a centralized mill... thinking if i do this I'm gonna need a mill on a trailer. I've been itching and watching Mike and Melissa is helping push me over the edge. I'll check out the swing mills...

I bought one of the 2k harbor freight cheapies. It actually has given pretty good results to me. It also gave me a relatively cheap education about what else I need to do it seriously, and how much work it is and all the other parts of the process. If you don't have a mightly Melissa to help you stack and sticker, for instance, its a lot more work by yourself. If you eventually go big you are looking at 10k to 35k it seems, so 2k is a relatively minor way to test the waters and get some education, and I'd imagine it would have a decent resale value if you did decide to upgrade.

John Ware thanks for the perspective. I get the feeling there is a lot more that is needed. The point about Mighty Melissa is a great as well. I’ve been pitching to my wife, son and daughter the grand vision. Haha. The Norwood catalog has a page that talks about mills bringing families together. I’ve got my 8 year old son repeating it but not sure my wife or 12 year old daughter are buying it. Most likely I’d have to rely on Hardy Brother #2 but he seems more interested in working in the field doing habitat management. Time will tell... I know I’m not ready to bite off the cost of the LX-150 but man does it look nice!

Love your channel... your interests, music, and values align to mine which makes it even more enjoyable. The fact that you are genuine and real is what matters. Hard work pays off and even better when you enjoy what you do. My outdoor fun is usually only on the weekends when I'm on my country property and we try to make the most of it... The sawmill and tractors are my #OutdoorTherapy and just help me stay sane from the "job" that helps pay for the fun. While not "out west" Hocking Hills Ohio is just 3 1/2 hours to your west... :-) Learning a lot from you guys as we try to build out our channel... its slow going but we hope to document our outdoor fun and also our efforts to return an 80 acre strip mine back to native habitat for improved wildlife and recreation.
