SHOT Show is a terrible place to actually review anything and any impressions given from 5 rounds at "media day" should be considered with a grain of salt. Glad to see this review-I commented on another review by a prominent guntuber that didn't see the whole point of the concept behind this gun and what and who it was for... Just goes to show you that being competent with a gun and a video camera doesn't mean that a guy 'gets it'. For someone who needs a rifle and can't be seen with one, this gun seems to be in a class of it's own. True braced Pistols aren't a new thing-but they should be a bigger thing. A 9mm braced pistol gives you everything a 9mm AR does, less a bit of ergonomic efficiency, a braced pistol in 7.5 FK means getting short-barreled AK47 ballistics in that same size package. There's a lot to be said for something that performs like a 7.62x39 SBR but fits in a glove box or the side pocket of your man-purse.

Just so you know I found 3 tricks out in using mine. One is when you pull the slide back you can lock it with the safety lever, in order to get the take down lever out easy and works for putting back together also. Two when you take the guide rod out squeeze the guide rod and weight together to take them in and out at the same time. Makes that step really easy. And three when you take the barrel out push it out until it gets stuck, then pull the barrel backwards and it pops out really easy.

Interesting to see this pistol concept working out as well as it does. Thanks as always for the unique content!

that gun looks like it'd be great at bladerunning down Nexus-6 models and above.

Hmmm, buy a WWSD rifle or this...? Definitely still the rifle someday but damn what a fantastic pistol.

Since my comment about loctite was unexpectedly answered later in the video (thought you were done talking about the optic), I’ll leave another one, just for the algorithm. Great work by the way Karl, keep it up!

That is my next handgun. I've watched just about every review I can find, fallen in love with the CZ 75 Omega, and expect to enjoy many years of pew with my future FK BRNO PSD; all 3 barrels please.

I'm no firearm expert, but this very much seems like a "you get more than you paid for" type of deal.

Reminds me of an old Forgotten Weapons video Ian did on the S&W Model 29 saying how for a rural police officer it could potentially bridge the gap between side arm and carbine. This handgun seems like a modern version of that.

Quite impressive. I was on the fence about this, but the more I see and the more practical demonstrations like this that I see, the more impressed I am with the system

I kind of don't like how that diamond was reflecting off of the slide. I don't imagine that you'd ever confuse the sight picture, but maybe some anti glare serrations there could be a good idea?

I did notice the top of that slide is SUPER shinny. The fit and finish is clearly top notch, but for a more practical set-up, I think you are right about serrations on the top of the slide. They even already have a rib that would work perfectly for it.

As always, great review. Very interested in this firearm. Czech firearms definitely seem to be catching more fandom again which is refreshing with the quality of weapons they produce.

My question from a while back, how would the 7.5 FK handle in an SMG, PDW or PCC? Something with a longer barrel. Would it be worth it? Maybe, maybe not, but it is a question. The 10mm has been in SMGs, but never really popular, same with the .40 S&W and most likely the 7.5 FK.

It's essentially a beefed up 7.62×25mm Tokarev. So probably like a quite more powerful PPS-43 or something.

Or just go straight to a 5.56 AR15-style carbine like police in many, many countries are doing.

Yeah I feel like this cartridge ultimately makes the most sense for a handgun like this in the modern landscape. Any stronger and you have 5.56 and any weaker and focused on being more controllable and you already have a ton of other pistol cartridges.
@ostiariusalpha

@@tommihommi1 The 5.56x45mm loses a lot of efficiency from very short barrels, typically anything under 12"; in fact, the 7.5 FK actually has more muzzle energy from a 10" barrel than 5.56mm does. The 7.5 FK's real competition from a short carbine would be the .300 BLK round. From an AR-15 style weapon, where the mag is in front of the trigger, the .300 BLK wins hands down. From a super compact PCC where the magwell is in the grip though, the 7.5 FK just makes a ton more sense.

Pretty easy to tell it'd do well. Necked down 10mm (which is what the 7.5 FK is, for anyone less familiar) has long been notorious for having considerable muzzle blast and working well in 5 inch race guns with muzzle brakes, usually a pretty good indicator that there's gas pressure left to work with. The issue with larger pistol cartridges in SMGs/PCCs is that with traditional blowback SMG guts you're approaching rifle chambered carbine weight for something with a lot less muzzle velocity and worse external ballistics in general. In fact it's kinda telling that the only notorious SMG in 10mm is the MP5, a gun that's already a scaled down rifle and doesn't only rely on a heavy bolt.

It's what the HK MK23 was supposed to be, but in a far more effective chambering. I love it.
