Good basic stuff, thanks! On whole chickens: I suggest pulling the giblets from the body cavity prior to freezing. That way you don't have the nasty bag of goop inside the cooked bird.

Hi , a little trick I do I learnt in the restaurant business is to use a 2 , - 4 , - or 6 cup empty measureing cup . I then open the storage bag and put it in the measuring cup using my fist . You can then lift the measuring cup over the cooked ingresients and spoon them into the bag . The maesuring cup keeps thr bag completely open and no mess :) Have a great day Bill

I caved and bought one of these. Now know I am a farm wife of many years and can cook from scratch on a wood stove. I personally do not see some of these recipes and being easier or less clean up truthfully in many cases, however, I bought mine specifically for making yogurt from our dairy animals...ie goats, sheep and cow. For that, I hear good things. AND we raise pinto and navy beans as one of many crops on our farm and found this to be, at least in this case a potentially less time-consuming way of making beans. I am sure this item will have many uses. I bought accessories and plan to try them out. Thus far I seem to have more stuff to wash. No different that if I prepared these meals conventionally.

To take it a bit beyond basics, you can cook quinoa perfectly in one, and just add a bit of ground cloves, and it turns out soooo good! Just don't put too much water in it. You need to first rinse the quinoa, and then soak it several hours, or overnight. I even add apple cider vinegar to the water to break it down more. All this is because it gets real bitter if you dont do all that. Believe me it works!

Happy New Year Kristin!!!! You are truly amazing! Thank you so much for more great ideas with the Instant Pot, loved all of them. It is people like you that help people like me that don't think out of the box, so to speak. Love you and your ideas. I have a question on the hamburger, does it have to be frozen, and if not frozen, does the time change? That is a wonderful idea for hamburger, and the best part is all the grease remains inside the bottom of the pot! Simply wonderful. I am so looking forward to all the recipes you will be sharing this year. Thank you so much for all your work that you share with all of us. Big big bear hug to you! Claudia

Great recipes! I want to try the steamed vegetables. How often do you change the ring? Any secrets to washing it each time? It seems like it is sometimes hard to get the smell off
@crickettgreen2670
5 жыл бұрын
Go to amazon.com and buy you the set of three extra colored silicone rings, they're only about 11 bucks.Then when you get smelly Foods use the color ring that you cook your smelly Foods in and you save another colored ring for cooking the stuff that has no smell to it at all and you save the other ring for doing things like bread or whatever which might absorb smells backwards and what not but since the silicone rings are so cheap that's the easy way of dealing with them. As far as washing them I just use warm soapy water rinse them off dry them off and you are good to go.

I've had my IP a little over a year ; everything I read says that times should not be different for frozen vs. thawed, however your whole chicken instructions have you doubling the time if frozen. They say if frozen it will just take longer to come to pressure and during that time the cooking process begins. Just curious what your thoughts are?
@Bear-cm1vl
5 жыл бұрын
Everything I have cooked from frozen has taken a little longer than cooked from raw. The IP does not seem to be sensitive to how much is in the pot, ie two raw chicken breasts take about the same amount of time as one does, however raw vs frozen does seem to change the cooking times.

Thanks for the recipes and the tips. You answered a lot of my questions. I just got an Instant Pot and today I came across your videos. Now I am addicted.

I can't remember which video it was, but you had one where you had a magnetic wrap around one of your instant pots so that you could tell the difference. Anyway, where did you get it? I'm looking all over the internet and all I'm finding is the stick-on wraps or ones that just have a little magnet stuck onto it. I thought the one you had was one magnetic sheet.

What I don't know how to do with the insta pot the settings the high pressure and low pressure and the settings less, normal, more, how do you switch between them I have done some cooking in the pot and it came out really delicious but it is just those settings I am not sure of. Hope you can help me. Donna

Does it matter what percentage of fat you use for the ground beef? For example I have some frozen 75% lean but it has 25 to 30% fat will it still cook the same way?
