So glad that you agreed to going on a guided tour. Self drive tourists die frequently travelling in Iceland. The country is stunning but the climate is brutal. Unbuckling before a river crossing is smart, and buckling up again afterwards is even smarter. Having the correct gear to hike in Iceland is very important. It looks like you and your parents didn’t get that briefing. I hope that they were able to dry out their wet clothing. And finally, as they discovered, it is very important to park in the correct direction to the howling wind to be able to open and close the vehicle doors safely and enter and leave the vehicle safely. Loved my trip to Iceland with national geographic. It made life in the mountains of Scotland during winter seem easy.

I was stationed at Keflavik Naval Air Station, Iceland from Nov 1982 - Nov 1983. I was in the Air Force at the time and loved watching the Northern Lights in winter and playing softball and having BBQ’s at 2 in the morning during the summer.

Congratulations 🎉 welcome to the over 40 having a baby club! I had my youngest at 45 with a 13-year gap between them. My best advice to you is take everything with a sense of humor. A study, published in Menopause magazine found that women who gave birth after 40 were four times more likely to live to be a 100 years old because the length of their telemorase increased. So you have that going for you now!😊

Aww… this makes me want to go back to Iceland! We went in 2021 - stayed in an Airbnb in Selfoss - that was a great jumping off point. We lucked out though. I didn’t realize you really need to book in advance for July and this woman decided to rent out her apartment because she was house sitting for a friend. So it was a new place with no reviews. Ended up being the cleanest place I had ever stayed in. She checked in on us and gave me a hand knitted hat!❤️ Iceland is awesome. There are a couple good Iceland KZitemrs to research your trip - and there is so much to see and tips to know it is worth it to do your research to get the most out of it. Also helpful to know how to drive a manual for you young people. 😜
