Pride is my demon. It's not that I think I'm the best. It's that I NEED to be the best; to earn my way. My pride comes from and perpetuates a feeling of worthlessness that is clinical depression. I need to become truly humble before I can see God because if I don't I will be crushed by His glory, rather than give him glory. God is working on me. I'll be OK.

@@DivineMercy_Official lol that makes more sense :) no worries, Father, I know you have a lot on your plate. I guess the reason for my absence has to do w/my brother's passing but not in a negative way. In the last 11 months I've moved 5 times so things were busy. But I'm now settled in Northern Maine (small town, pop 4,500) closer to my mom (her dementia progresses). My absence isn't because I've left my faith - your teachings have struck me deep & after learning the truth there is no way I could ever leave the Church again. Actually, I've been more involved in my parish here - attending daily Mass, the priest has asked me to be on his Pastoral Committee & I volunteer at their thrift store & food pantry. I'll also be conducting the classes for Protecting God's Children for the parish. I try to binge watch The Shrine's ministry during my down time & I'll comment periodically so you know I'm still practicing my faith & haven't dropped off the face of the earth :) And although I miss Danny terribly, he still watches out for me & I've received so many blessings that I know he has advocated to Jesus for me. So, it's all good Father Chris & I appreciate you checking in on me. Hopefully I can get to The Shrine soon - a pilgrimage there is always in the back of my mind.

It is shocking how insidious pride can be and how the enemy can twist us around. It's so important to stay humbly close to the heart of Jesus. Your talk is as enlightening as I found C. S. Fr Chris, thank you for giving us this opportunity to start the new year right - by growing in virtue with this new series on the “Seven Deadly Sins”. Funny how one of my favorite TV shows growing up would be used as a way to remember them. 😃 Fred Berretta’s story was fascinating! Because I once heard a talk by “Sully” Sullenberger who piloted flight 1549, it really sparked my interest. Fred’s experience demonstrated to us how trust and true surrender can be life-changing and how important it is to turn to the Divine Mercy Chaplet for God’s Mercy. This new series is spot-on because it directly applies to the struggles we all face in our daily lives. May God help us bury the pride in our past and help us build a life in humility now and in the future. God bless you, Fr Chris, and God bless all who helped put this excellent production together - it’s the best to date! 🙏

Thank you Father Chris for the thorough description of prideful behavior. I think many of us struggle to discern between “good” pride and “bad”pride, but I think it’s probably always better to err on the conservative side, and seek more humility. One of many prayers that I’ve learned about from your talks is the very tender Litany of Humility, which I enjoy praying. I do remember the flight 1549 event; just thinking that God in his omniscience and HIS time, knew that Fred would be praying the Chaplet of Divine Mercy for the passengers and reading Vinny Flynn’s book on the flight. God is ultimately in control. Thanks for sharing all of God’s gifts to you in order to teach us. I don’t know any one else who can make a lesson from the characters of a sitcom. God bless you Father Chris and the Living Divine Mercy team.
