Thrift/Consignment stores often have great wardrobe staples of great quality and from great brands as well! I’ve purchased Benetton sweaters for $3, Banana Republic, JCrew, Michael Kors, etc. Just because something is pre-owned doesn’t mean it’s damaged or stained or worn out. It’s important to take your time shopping to try things on, but keep in mind that things can be altered and tailored to suit your body and taste. Vintage coats/blazers usually need new buttons, plants can be tailored to fit, skirts and shorts can be hemmed, etc. Typically, even tailoring high quality items is cheaper than buying new!

Such an important comment. I don’t understand why Anna never mention such things. Don’t get me wrong, I do really like her, but sometimes I feel like she forgets that her lifestyle is such a privilege, specially if we are talking about ladies that perhaps have kids and a low paid job. I really wish she focused more often on videos on how to buy on a budget and focused more on how a woman should take care of her finances and education.

So funny, I'm from Europe and my mother thought me everything Anna is talking about. From etiquette to style and beauty. I live in the US now, I couldn't believe how many women don't care for themselves here, and if they do, they look so tacky. Everything is about fast fashion and trends. No one invests in good leather shoes or classic dresses that fit their frame...

I just want to say that this was once the case....however traveling to Europe every so often I see many women in Europe not dressing well and not looking very put together......it's just the way it is. Globally we have been tempted into fast fashion and fast food. By the way, I was born in Europe.

Janelle Odionu I am European (from Sweden like Anna, actually) and I agree with you. Europe has its advantages, and the US has its advantages. Yes, us Europeans have all had our fair share of arrogant Americans, but we are not like that, right? And all Americans are not like that. AND, we have our own share of rude arrogant people.
@ISRAEL-so6fx
4 жыл бұрын
@Janelle Odionu I'm from the US also and I think we have gotten a bit slack here. It's not really the same as criticizing cultural dress, because wearing crappy clothes isn't a deeply held American value. Even 20 years ago, we used to dress a lot better, and people really cared for themselves and their appearance. One of my aunts had the best, most beautiful and tasteful clothes. Nowadays, if you wear a more conservative skirt or trousers and heels, you seem extremely dressed up in comparison to everyone around you. People are not only going out in leggings and sweats, but they're going out with their worst, rattiest leggings and sweats. Either that, or they've got everything on display, or they're wearing the cheapest material possible that doesn't flatter them and they throw out from week to week, just to buy more. It's really getting to be a problem not only with our public appearance, but with how much waste we're creating. It also calls into question the treatment of the garment workers who made such a cheap piece of clothing. Although I am happy to be from the US and I don't feel ashamed just because I was born here, I definitely think it's worth noting and discussing some areas where we could improve.

I love cashmere! It is honestly the best and let me tell you guys a secret- I go to thrift stores in high class areas and have TONS of cashmere sweaters because of it. The average price is around $12 at a thrift store for a cashmere sweater. There are tons because most people do not know what they are looking at when they see it but once you train your eye for fabrics you will be able to pick them out extremely quickly. Just make sure you check for holes because cashmere is prone to holes from bugs that like to eat fabric. (Moths, silverfish). Another good tip to keep those moths away is to buy some ceder blocks and stick them in your closet! Ceder naturally repels insects.

Super tips. May I add another one, that is buying lovely pure silk underwear camisoles. I've got "spaghetti" straps ones, short-sleeves ones, and long-sleeves ones. Plus, to wear under dresses, full-length silk "robes". They are so thin they don't show at all under any garment, and they kepp wonderfully warm. The 'spaghetti" will take me until say end of November, then I'll go over to the short-sleeved ones, and towards January/February I'll wear the long-sleeved ones. And in realy cold weather I wear silk tights as well. Best colour : the natural/neutral hue, and thus I can even wear lighter dresses to parties. That was one of Princess Diana's little secrets, apparently she bought them from Damart. Mine come from Missegle or Lily Silk. Have a nice and warm fall/winter ladies.

Hi ! So lovely to have you back ! Thaanks for all those useful ideas for the autmn season. Gloves and scarves are my favourites, - in colours they cheer me up. I am Scandinavian also, but had the great possibility to live in Italy for 12 yrs and to learn to appreciate excellent leather handbags and gloves.

I HATE beanies! They make my head look huge and even with makeup, MUCH more masculine. Not to mention when I take it off, it looks like I didn’t brush my hair!!

Have you tried a wool cloche hat? They're close-fitting and ear-covering like a beanie, but a much more feminine shape. I have 2, and they're *very* warm

Anna, I noticed you voice has improved so much from your previous videos! Less vocal fry and just overall sounding better and more "fresh" - This may be a bit random, but you do have a very pleasant and elegant voice.

Summer is harder for me style wise. Fall is a piece of cake for me in this case. And the summers where I live is too humid so lost is a word I would use for my mind in summer.

For me summer is the worst. Of course in winter you need to take into consideration the rain and wind (or snow) but at least you're not sweating and feeling dirty 30 minutes after a shower.

So glad you're back! Must have - coats, coats, COATS! Until this video, I had not heard anyone mention the importance and power of the coat. If I'm going to take the time to put together an outfit I don't want to ruin the look by putting a raggedy coat over it. I think a puffer jacket can look great with a sporty outfit, but not so much with boots and skirt. My own personal style of course - you do you. And the beanie - I wasn't a huge fan but my desire for warmth made me look into something. I bought an embellished beanie that complements my coat and I always get compliments when I wear it. I look stylish and put together. Just as shoes can destroy or make a look, same with a coat.

Hi Anna! How do you feel about the environmental impact of your wardrobe? I also enjoy nice clothes and to have many options but let's face it: the clothing industry is a huge part of climate change. It also impacts the local environments a lot depending on how it is made (polluting waters, affecting workers health, removing pollinators and more). Is production and material from and ecological perspective something you consider when you go shopping? Or could we stay elegant while buying less, since our planet does not have endless resources?

You're right Anna, I also only wear cashmere, at least it's the only i can stand even on bare skin, but of course I don't wear only V neck, thin cachemire silk blend, I also love cardigans, twin sets, and they go so well with wool trousers, velvet trousers, streight, wider, or tight, similar to equestrian style, with leather boots. I love also leather suede trousers in brown, beige, taupe, which I wear with leather pumps, with a bit wider heel. And of course I have a collection of pashmina scarves, or cashmere scarves in different colours. Specially beige, ivory cream that match my favourite MaxMara coat. I also have navy wool coat, beige '' officer'' style of coat, a bit shorter. I also have lots of gloves, leather, suede, alcantara, cashmere in many colours to match my outfit.

Anna, I love how you display your wardrobe but I see you're using plastic hangers. I feel they cheapen our closet space. I like wooden or material hangers. If and when change them out you'll see the difference. Thank you for sharing this video with us. Ciao, Bella💜

When choosing the beanie, put it on a few times in a row to make sure the yarn or fabric doesn’t create excess static. Nobody can pull off the Albert Einstein look; not even Einstein himself!

There are special anti static sprays for garments as well - they're a real lifesaver and I have no idea, why they aren't sold in any drugstore.

Dear Anna. I discovered your channel just recently. I was looking for some inspiration, really leaving it all to law of attraction, and one of your videos showed up. I must say it is one of the best finds I've made here on youtube. You are so considerate, classy, educated, poised and speak so well about these subjects. Thank you very much for putting your knowledge & experience together for us so we can all learn to be better & and to look better. Sending you much love. Have a nice day.
