#1 Preview bound settings in preference (turn it on) #2 Use geometric shapes instead of drawing you own #3 Use preview Pixel mode (alt+command/ctrl +y) #4 User grids (cmd/ctrl + ') #5 Basic & minimal so details remain even if icon is minimized #6 Always outline your strokes (object -> expand) #7 Arrange and display icons in grids neatly

Great golden rules! Want to ad that it can be useful (especially in webdesign) to give each icon it's own artboard and name each artboard. This helps you with transporting the icons to separate files.

For the first point about the stroke, you could just change the stroke to be inside the box
@tunelvission
5 жыл бұрын
I too wonder if the first tip can also be fixed by switching the stroke to the inside of the square? or is that not the same?
@tunelvission
5 жыл бұрын
but I am guessing when designing a logo you can't always just switch the stroke so this would be useful when this is your best option

I have a question not related to exact this video but, what if you price per hour so as example I say I can design it in 8 hours and I count €20 for an hour so €160 but because the client asks to change a lot or something else it is going to take longer do I have to say he has to pay more now? And how do I say it
@MaxMullen
5 жыл бұрын
One thing that I do is when sending the budget or talking about it with the client, say that the price includes two changes, then more than two changes means an extra charge per change.
@neetabudhraja
5 жыл бұрын
Wow.. i dint know that we can charge extra for the changes.. i have done around 80 changes for one client... !!! And it took 1 month for him to finalize his logo!!! And each day i used to work 6 to 7 hours for his logo.. !!!! Its an eye opener for me... Thank u for asking this question.. as it has helped me to take care of such things in future...

@@neetabudhraja As Max said, when defining budget you formalize sort of a contract. Your project will cost X. I don't say to my customer how many time I will spend, because probably the client will try to get you until the last minute, or a refund. What I do is: I MUST have a briefing, then I'll show up with a number in my mind. Maybe 3h for the whole project + 1h for any problem I get or research time. After showing the price of my project, I write in the same sheet that my price isn't for the open file, just the final outcome. Also, minor changes are allowed 3 times maximum. Redesign = extra fee per hour (now you can say how many extra hours you got). But you have to have something to manage your working hours. I use ManicTime to help me. For now, I'm sorry for you to work 1 month for a single project. If you do business cards or flyers like me, it's more acceptable changes because it's a work of less impact. But if you design a logo, a full brand or so, the price normally is high because the project will consume a lot of changes. So, in your position, before start, I would charge the 40 euros/hour for 20h. I normally start AFTER a good briefing and discussing. I count only worked hours. hope it was helpful in any way

@@gu.andreazzi thank u so much.. its a great help.. as i had redesigned tht client's logo for more than 6 times n each time i had given him so many options and variations.. and to design a logo, its a huge amount of work.. that too if its of whole brand.. It was my first time experience..n i will always keep these tips in my mind.. thank u once again.. for this valuable insight..
