@@ToHoldNothing what a cool concept, Prophet. It makes a lot of sense now with the abilities from 5. I'd say Necromancer Job in FFV Advance was more obscure than Oracle. First, you have to complete the Sealed Temple Bonus Dungeon. Essentially, defeat Enuo. Like Blue Mage, the Necromancer can use powers not normally used by anyone else. But they have to be the one to defeat the monster in question to gain that specific power. Also, as I recall, Necromancers are classified as Undead. Meaning that Healing magic is off-limits to heal them.

7:45 While Jobs aren't called out explicitly, I feel it is incorrect to say Jobs weren't really a thing after 5. Even outside of the clear class intent based on their appearances, each of the heroes from FF6, 7, and 8 all had explicit classes reinforced by their custom commands (6) and signature weapon and limit breaks (7 and 8), and 10's classes were pretty locked in given how much (usually worthless) effort it took to break out of their spots on the sphere grid.

One obscure job I'd like to make note of is the Rune Fencer of the MMO game FFXI. Introduced in the last major paid expansion, Seekers of Adoulin, it's an interesting tank class that doesn't use a shield, but instead uses a massive claymore in order to focus on parrying enemies, a stat that had always existed in FFXI, but had always been more neglected compared to Block (shield) or Evasion. Of course the main ability of Rune Fencers if they would cast magical runes, one for each element that would therefore grant them powerful defense against magic of the opposing element. So you would use a water rune to reduce fire damage, or a fire rune to reduce ice damage, as well as light and dark runes being used to counter each other. It's honestly one of the trickiest tank jobs in FFXI, as unlike a PLD where you just get smacked around and heal, with Rune Fencer you need to plan your runes ahead of time, as you can only use three at a time. FFXI was also the only game I know of that ever used the Rune Fencers.

Even though I mostly played mage classes, I can recall how miserable it was to level-up one’s Parrying skill, when I was on RDM or SAM. I am glad to hear the developers eventually (finally) introduced a class that can naturally use (and presumably skill-up semi-efficiently) Parrying.

FFXIV player here. In the current iteration of Scholar and Summoner, I believe that they could retcon the classes to be of one single class origin, instead of the current Archanist branching off into two, scholar and summoner. It would make more sense to have Archanist turn into Summoner and have oracle/academician be the base class that turns into Scholar. This would help steer the classes into the right direction as they currently have a bit of an identity crisis. Healers specifically are another big point of contention as they somewhat have the same kits and little class variation, and too many tools towards healing and not enough towards combat and damage mitigation, with the exception of Sage, which has stepped in the right direction. Does anyone really use Astrologian Synastry? Its just a dumbed down, single target version of Horoscope, which they already have. Its redundant and only works for single target on a twice as long cooldown. Oracle reminded me so much of Scholar that i wish they dropped the whole summon motif for scholar and really embraced the buff and debuff mechanics. They can keep seraph but have seraph be the sole summon, idk the whole fairy thing just seems put of place and random. I should really make a video about my opinions about FFXIV jobs, and how they really suffer with identity right now. If i see another spell or weaponskill get slapped on with the roman numeral 2 or 3 I'm going to scream. Come up with better name!

the last good FF job based game was FFX-2 imo, I wish they would bring back the job system in the recent ones. Also my favourite job of all time is the Geomancer such a good design and concept

Green Mage was not in FF Tactics Advance on the GBA, but it was in FF Tactics A2 on the DS.

Do you really have to use all your footage from other KZitem channels? How about play the games yourself?
