I also appreciate that you presented different plants for shade than one usually sees in YT videos. My entire property is pretty much part to full shade and very moist and I have been seeing how far I can get away with "part sun" perennials or perennials that tolerate shade, but most are really struggling. So many shade plants are either hard to find in nurseries or difficult to start from seed, which is how I have started my garden this year.

I’ve been watching many videos on shade plants. After a while, I realized all the same plants were recommended. Rosy, thank you so much for your suggestions which are new considerations for me and the great info on how they grow and how to maintain ❣

Some great suggestions here. My favourite plant for shade is Heuchera Paris. I have it in a damp area that is open to the sky but only gets an hour of direct sunlight in midsummer and no direct sun at any other time of the year. The soil there is consistently moist and fertile. It flowers its heart out for half a year or more, and attracts a constant stream of pollinators as well. My fuchsia pink fizz is also very happy in that spot.

Hi! I'm a new subscriber. Learning so much from your channel. I'm currently working on our front garden. It's chalky so looking for plants that will grow well. I really appreciate that the plants you are showing us can grow on a difficult soil. Thank you!

interesting video. I would have appreciated being told which plants need dry shade, which average moisture and which wet. Can i assume that all the plants featured will thrive in any type of moisture? Thank you

I agree. I have a very dry border beneath mature trees and it’s hard to grow anything past springtime.

@@stevehicks1134mulch the areas add shade loving plants and add compost to the hole when planting. If you have any free time water them in and continue to do so until they settle in. It’s never easy to grow well under mature trees.
