Risk it for the biscuit! I love this. Great advice for all players. Your character only lives once...or twice, but don't de-risk your adventurer's life until there's no adventure!

I like Risk it for the Biscuit. I’m not the best myself but have sat thru many a session where things stagnate because everyone is being too careful!

Roleplay roleplay roleplay, is so important to me. If a good roleplaying session gets going it can carry so much weight with party relations and those bonds can really carry through the campaign.

I struggle with role playing, so being able to tell my DM between sessions what my character wants has been very helpful.

Risk it for the biscuit! I like that one the most. Though my favorite proactive thing a player does for my games is take notes. More than ask questions. More than roleplay. Taking notes is my biggest like a player can do.

Very much enjoy when players engage me as the GM. Surprise me with choices and ideas. Already have a copy of the book so no need to put me in the drawing.

Does sucking up all the luck tokens to cast a light spell or casting light on a skull and rolling it down hallways count? Great advice. Instant subscription.

It's funny; I've been roleplaying for years, yet I so often forget that my GM wants to know if I have any ideas for my character--family, background, hooks, pointy bits to cause me trouble. I think sometimes I assume if I overload them with plans for my character, it may be too restrictive or overwhelming/annoying. I think the healthy balance I've found is to couch it in terms of "So this is what I was thinking... but you can do what you'd like with it." That gives them flexibility to work with my ideas and incorporate what works for their campaign... while also leaving room for them to pleasantly surprise me with fun twists I didn't know about!

I wish my players would communicate character desires/activities between sessions. We only play twice a month so there is plenty of off game time to create character.

Have you thought about sending them a prompt to get them thinking about it?

@@FlintFireforge I actually initiated it myself. I run RQG and we have an end of season phase, and I started pushing out contacts and events that occurred in town in between adventures. A couple of them ran with it, but only those things I presented.

Learning the rules and the features of your character seems so obvious to me. But I guess it needs to be said for some people.

Especially for new players. Some new players, like ones I've taught, think an RPG is like board game where, when you are done, you put all the pieces back in the box until next time versus it being a "living" game that can be accessed and worked on at anytime. Thanks for watching.
