I think it depends on the type of work you're doing. I used to work in a corporate environment many years ago, and it was draining. But since over a decade, I am freelancing as a linguist and loving it. I can freely decide when to work and what to work on. There is no commute as my office is anywhere I am, at home, indoors, outdoors, also during travels, just need a laptop and an internet connection :). And, I love my work, which makes a huge difference.

The problem I have is when I do have a free day or do take days off and I am home, I do not know how to truly enjoy my time off. By the third day I find myself bored and fidgeting and looking forward to the routine of my 9-5. Am I the only one? Yet when I am at my 9-5, I think how great it would be to have free time to travel or explore or go shopping. Yet when I finally do get that free day, it’s like I don’t know how to truly appreciate it/enjoy it if that makes sense. Let me know if this is just me.

Yet again a very interesting and informative video Yes one should retire ASAP if one has the financial independence to do so and one doesn't need a job to define who one is !!!! I've been retired since my early 50s not the life plan but brought about by a health issue 12+years later to the best of my knowledge healthwise doing fine !Sure the lack of early starts and late finishes have improved my physical and mental health 10fold Sadly many will never achieve what you and I have done as they are victims of modern society and I must have it all now !!! Love your work keep it up 😊😊😊

I agree grasp life now. I am 65 and l am looking to move to a new area or country. I had a house in a traditional part of Spain for 5 years in 2018 which l rented out and visited often. I only sold it due to it's age as it was an old village house and it had ongoing maintenance issues. I am still working.

I can answer that one, To be productive but at Yr own pace with out pressure and not to go silent into that good night there's so much to touch to feel to smell to live and love things that we couldn't do because of slaving away to work for life, give more attention to things that you couldn't do before devote more time to Yr self and people and to experience things you'd never had the chance before to do there is so much to do and expirience that it's very hard to fitt it all in one day😅that is what it means not to waste time ,I'm realy longing to get on this adventure of freedom and with Jesus by Yr side always ❤.

My father & mother saved ALL their money for early retirement (62). My mother was killed in a car accident at 59. She was mostly a housewife yet that is still part of the rat race, in supporting my dad's job. My dad was driving the car yet it was not his fault--however he lived in immense guilt up until this day at 85. Yes, he's lived long, yet it's been all suffering.

Well said Daphna. We just came from Madeira and we were thinking how will you do those Levada's at age 65-70 ? Some of them were already challenging for us . Sooner you retire better for you , but some people have to realize you don't need 2 million to retire , but you have to do your own research and planning .

We don't need that much to be financially free for the next 35 years , in Europe where health care doesnt bankrupt you. Plug your numbers into an online calculator and you'll be surprised how little a single person needs (it helps if your property is paid off).
