I agree with these points. In a perfect world, I’d sell my C7 now, save up for a year for a decent down payment and then get the C8 Z06 at MSRP. Unfortunately that’s not reality lol. In the meantime, I’ll just work towards the C7 Z06. The way GM has handled the C8 overall has completely turned me away from the car.

It’s not GM’s fault. It’s supply and demand’s fault. Lots of people want what is in little supply and GM can’t allocate more resources to produce more of them unless it’s strategically intelligent to do so. We can arm chair quarterback those decisions but if we do, can we answer the question of “What is the Asian market like currently and where should we spend our limited capital?” If we can’t answer that that how can we fault a company for not putting enough resources toward something just because we want it? Ps I’m getting my Z06 in about a month at MSRP. I put $2000 down about 3 months before the Z06 was announced. Only rumors. I’ve been waiting for 2.5 years. Anyone could have gotten on that list when I did. It wasn’t a mystery that a Z06 was coming after the base C8. There’s always something to complain about if we look hard enough…

While I feel your pain, there’re laws that severely limit the actions manufacturers can take with dealers. Ford, Chevy, and other manufacturers don’t like what dealers are doing either. But legally their hands are tied. I put some info below if you want to learn more: 1. Antitrust Laws: In the U.S., the Sherman and Clayton Antitrust Acts prevent manufacturers from setting fixed retail prices, as this could be considered price fixing. Mandating a specific price across all dealers could be seen as anti-competitive and potentially harmful to consumers. While manufacturers can suggest a retail price (often called the Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price or MSRP), they cannot force dealers to stick to it. 2. Dealer Franchise Laws: In many states, there are dealer franchise laws that protect the rights of car dealers. These laws often prevent manufacturers from exerting undue influence over dealers or terminating a franchise without cause. They also sometimes prohibit manufacturers from opening their own stores that might compete with independent dealers.
@dlang1009

I agree 100% . But remember the MSRP is Manufacture SUGGESTED Retail Price. The dealerships are private owned so they can ask what ever price they want. Do I like that hell no. I’m great full my dealer is charging MSRP. GM should hold allocation’s to the stealerships that are charging crazy numbers and give to the dealers who are selling at MSRP. I also think GM is hurting us the customer by telling us we can’t sell for a profit until after 6 months of ownership but they do nothing to these pos dealerships.

You made some good points, but they are a bit buried in your delivery, and I will explain. First, you started the video throwing all dealerships under the bus, regarding raising prices and constructing long waiting lists for the car. Well, that is just supply and demand. Would you rather they NOT raise price, and NOT put people on lists? There would be absolutely no price and time rationing of the product, meaning, the inventory would be gone before any thoughtful consumers really had a chance to make an educated purchase. The speculation and flipping would be even worse that it has been. There would be even more cries of dishonesty, and even more people buying just to sell it right back to the dealer. My point? Higher prices serve a purpose. They channel a product to the consumer who most wants to own it. Now you transitioned from that to a good point, that Chevy has underproduced the cars. Bingo! Every Vlogger misses this. GM produced 50,000 C4 Corvettes first year. For C8, less than half that number. This could be partly fueled by your point about electrification getting in the way. So you have made some good complaints here, but I would leave the dealers out of it. They are only seeking profit, which should help everybody in a free world. If they were overcharging, the cars would be sitting on lots like the C5 did. And then selling for pennies on the dollar at Carmax like the C4, C5, and C6. What do I think REALLY happened? The C8 was planned in 2018 and 2019, before the pandemic. Nobody could have foresaw the Biden administration running the money printer on a supercharger. Look around you at who owns hot rods these days. As you said, it is hucksters and vloggers, not the rich doctors, lawyers and dentists of the past. Biden did this. The lock down turned this website into our lives, creating "content" millionaires out of thin air. GM should have adjusted with the Z06, and elevated production to meet demand AT the price they planned for it to be. Thanks.

I was even more amazed when the number one guy on the list passed on this base model allocation and instead chose to roll the dice and hope for a Z07 allocation. I then moved up to the #1 spot and instantly submitted my order. I believe this fellow will come to regret that decision if he doesn’t already.

At $250k it's better than ALL the competition. The actual reason is being poor

At $250k I'll pay GM directly, or I'll buy a Murcielago LP640. However, I will not pay a random dealer trying to screw me. Dealerships make a majority of their money on used car sales. Not screwing their customers. You'd be a fool to pay $250,000 for a car that is worth $150,000.

@@kobyspurgin who cares if they are making money. They're giving you a product that's better than all the competition even at that price. Murcielago and Huracan don't even touch the Z06.

@@markoon139 I understand where you are coming from, but this wouldn't be a problem if GM was offering that price directly to consumers. Tesla has proven that selling cars directly to consumers is cheaper and people appreciate the transparency and fair pricing this provides. Instead, GM is forcing us to buy from dealerships and this has created a lot of drama. Not all purchases are based on performance alone. I love my C7 Z06, and I love the Corvette, but there are cars that check more boxes other than just higher performance numbers. A naturally aspirated V12 Murcielago is the real dream, regardless of the performance numbers it puts out.

@@kobyspurgin So let's say they do the direct to seller model and force MSRP sales. That will mean LONGER waiting lists, not shorter ones, and they will still go for way over on the secondary market. One way or another in a free market, things will always go up when supply is lower than demand. Unavoidable

@@markoon139 The length of time isn't my only concern with the release of the C8 Z06, its the fact that many dealers are given way more allocations than others. There are tons of Chevrolet dealerships that won't even have the ability to get 1 C8 Z06 allocation. If the direct to seller method was enforced it would be fair for all and on a first come first serve basis. Sure you can walk into your dealer (or gallery) and spec out the car as you wish and then wait. The direct to seller doesn't mean longer waiting periods - it's a more ethical way to do business.

This video is the one reason why I will never give a Thumbs Up to this Channel! All things considered between Automatics and Manuals. Between otherwise Equally equipped performance cars. The one with a Dual Clutch Paddle Shifted Automatic will make the difference in a Competitive Driving competition and outperform the car equipped with a manual transmission, It’s just the way it is!!! Hey I get it, old school is cool, but it doesn’t make sense anymore in competitive auto sports!!! 🤷🏽♂️

Me talking about the C8 Z06 being sold over MSRP is why you won’t like my channel? I’ve driven the C8 Z06 hard for 100+ miles and 150mph too

first i don't think dealerships have any unsold allocations so how they could be making these huge mark ups is beyond me. usually the market will dictate the price but for this car so many are already spoken for. What many people are seeing is a dealership consigning a car for a client who sets the price, thats why the mileage will be more than just a factory car. Plus a Z06 owner had an engine fail at like 500 miles and GM took a engine right off the assembly line, sent it to the dealership who swapped it out quickly with short turnaround. When you spend this much money on a car you want to be have a dealership behind you to look out for you. I know most dealerships are referred to as stealerships but i can assure you that few car makers are without issues.

They have unsold allocations because people would order their car; wait, and not want to pay $10k-$100k over sticker. This happened with the Ford Bronco when it came out. The dealerships are screwing it up and some dealers not related to total volume sales have priority and thats ridiculous. 5 KZitemrs all got their C8 Z06 from the same dealership. WAYYYY before anyone else. I think GM sent a new motor for PR sake, wait until its "3k cars" at the end of development (hypothetical).
