I love this! I was homeschooled over 20 years ago, and though we had more freedom than most people I hated it because I wasn't allowed to focus on the things that I loved. Once I graduated at 17 I could learn gardening and sewing and focus on my ballet training. Today I primarily use what I learned after school. My children are now being raised very much like what she's describing. I've not read much on delayed teaching, I'm just going off my experience. We live in the Midwest here in the US, and thankfully have a lot of freedom for this.

Wow this is so interesting thank you for sharing! It’s so important to allow kids control over what they want to learn, and not am just what we feel is important for them to learn. I’m glad you found your interests, even though it had to wait until late. It’s great that you have this perspective to be able to inform how you raise your children, and I’m sure they are doing great for it. Thanks for taking the time to comment 💜

Interesting point about the hypnotic brain state in early childhood. In the Soviet Union school started at age 7. In the US it’s 6. Yeah, anything before that is a bit of a stretch as far as academic stuff goes.

I found this so interesting too. We have a lifetime to pursue our chosen academics and I don’t think any harm is done by delaying it a couple of years. Thank you for taking time to leave a comment. Much appreciated!

I love this book review! Would love for you to do more 😊 I’m such a lover of non-fiction also and I’m currently blowing through home education books now as we begin or continue rather on our home education journey!

Funny you say about kids crying out for not wanting to go to school, we had our little one at early years for 10 months, cried everytime we dropped him off. We decided to make the decision to home educate after lots of issues it's not now been about a month or so he hasn't been there and he is much happier 😊😊

We had similar with preschool (although they had some times they were fine to go in, it never felt easy) and in hindsight I'm not sure we'd do preschool again. So glad you found home education and it is suiting your family well. Thanks for being here and sharing your experience!

Ahh fab. Thank you so much for your comment and sorry for slow reply. Home Ed life is all consuming sometimes isn’t it 😄. So great to connect with other home ed families. Glad to hear you like this content as I have ideas for another one about other books to read if you home Ed. Hopefully I’ll get that down soon :)

That's so great to hear - thank you for your comment! I was the same, meaning to read it for ages and not getting around to it, then I was so glad when I finally did. Things tend to come to you at the right time I think :)
