I use Logic Pro on my tracks, and wish to know if certain tips may vary in that program.

Implying the same settings, what is the techinical explanation of the difference between in-track reverb vs send-track reverb? Imho, there no difference at all.

Is there a reason why you flip a gate and sidechain on the return channel rather than sidechain using a compressor?

I think it just depends what you're going for. The gate will duck the volume of the return signal when the vocal hits, whereas the compressor will... compress it? haha. Kinda like how producers used to sidechain for pump/groove but now many will use volume automation instead.

@@mattmaurer2297 Yep! Just a slightly different result, but there are definitely similarities in the overall approach.

Is lowering the send of the audio that goes to your master bus and simultaneously raising the send that goes to your reverb bus gives you the same result as putting the reverb directly on the audio ? Please excuse my english and my lack of vocabulary.

The short strict answer is no. Sends won't work the same way as a dry-wet knob on an insert. Long answer: Adjuting fader and send levels depends on what type of send you have. A post-fader send will lower both the level sent to the master bus AND the reverb bus. Eventually, no sound will be sent to your reverb bus regardless of the level on the send knob. A rough equivalent would be having a gain/utility insert before your reverb insert. Channel fader would be gain on the utility, send level would be dry-wet on the reverb. A pre-fader won't be affected by the channels fader level. So you can cut the dry signal entirely and still have audio running to your reverb bus. This is somewhat closer to the dry-wet on an insert but it's NOT the same.

If you don't want to "waste" an AUX track for a reverb especially designed for a certain sound, couldn't the same effect of a non-sound-blocking reverb be achieved with an Audio Effect Rack? By using one chain for the dry signal ("dry" in term of "without reverb") and one for the reverb, the the plug-ins used for one sound wouldn't have to be spread over multiple tracks. Nor would that additional AUX track clutter every unrelated channel with an mostly unused send knob. In short: Are there benefits of AUX tracks over parallel processing? Do I miss something here?

Well, aux tracks/sends are a form of parallel processing. ;) But no, I can't see you are missing something.

You definitely can do a parallel rack inside the channel's own processing if you're only applying it to one sound. You can also do it on a return - just a workflow preference. Only benefits of Aux channels are being able to send multiple channels to it. Also some people prefer it visually :)

where do you get your vocal samples?

Why a gate instead of a compressor for ducking verb?

You can do both, I prefer gates as they have more controls / more opportunity to experiment. I find they're easier to tweak with the Floor & Hold controls, and usually, don't have as many clicking problems. But just a preference thing :) Gates are awesome though, you should get comfortable with using them!
