Productivity - the key is in how it is measured. It depends on how much you get for your work, and then no one can wonder why it is somehow connected with satisfaction.

I live in Europe too and having studied geography in high-school, we've often been taught about Sweden and other Scandinavian countries as exemplary countries and case studies to look up to, so this was very interesting! If you wanted to do a longer video comparing living in LA vs Sweden, I'd be curious too

Really got to learn some beautiful words, always pretty good to find out habits and day to day traditional little things about other culture. Diversity is what keep us sane and humane. Keep Shining ✨

I've never intentionally worn shoes to bed, but accidentally, yes. I will have to watch those commercials more closely, I've never noticed people wearing shoes to bed in those. Some Americans do take their shoes off inside the house and others don't. Sometimes it's a regional tradition though, in Alaska it is almost universal to take your shoes off at home, especially if you are visiting someone else.

Love all your content, thank you. The word or phrase I've always used and practice that's similar to lagom is "everything in moderation." I guess it's different, when uing it in the context you mentioned. You wouldn't say moderation, when asked how much chz on pasta. But, it's the same principle that I've lived by.

I think swedes need to get over this concept that taking your shoes off inside is somehow special because I cannot think of a single place where that isn't done. I have been to many US states and many countries in europe and I have never, ever gone to someone's house and NOT taken my shoes off. I do love all the small traditions though, and of course, fika.

Thanks for another great video, Lana! I'm an American, and I never wear shoes to bed and I can't speak for every American but I don't think most others do either lol. When I was younger, I always wondered why they do that in movies too and I used to think something's wrong with me for not wearing shoes to bed lol but I suspect it's because it looks better on camera for the actors to be wearing shoes than just in their socks or barefoot. There are a lot of things I think filmmakers portray differently on film than in real life just because of the aesthetic they're going for. But I could never do that in real life, it sounds way too uncomfortable 😂😂

The big difference with the past is that people ate those buns or other 'special foods' only during those holidays, or anyhow just a few times per year. Now people live in abundance (created through severe exploitation) and eat those foods on a daily basis /several times per day with dire consequences on the animals and Planet Earth.

In terms of productivity, one thing that ironically works positively for Sweden is the fact that there is not a huge disparity in salaries, partially due to taxes becoming more punitive as you enter higher income brackets. That means that people will be less likely to climb the ranks just to have higher income (since salary does not differ that much) as they do in other countries. In other countries often people who are not intrinsically suited for higher roles (think managerial) end up staying in them due to higher incomes only, not because they enjoy it or they are particularly good at those jobs. Here in Sweden is not unusual for people to try managerial roles and step down after a while, something which would frowned upon in other countries. Thus people are more likely to choose roles that they enjoy more which increases the likelihood of them being productive since they are doing the job for the right reasons.

Idk if its so much their habits, as much as its just they live in a great country lol. I can make as many changes as I want, I still live in the suburbs of the US. It will never compare to somewhere like North Sweden
I’m an LA native. You won’t catch us walking here as much as Stockholm because Los Angeles consists of 88 cities and spread apart through nature - that’s how large it is so it would be unreasonable to not use a car. People, however, do walk a lot, and ride bikes throughout many places in LA, just not the path you took from UCLA to Beverly Hills.
