Started reading about this gmo and stuff on foreign tabloids before I travelled abroad. The foodstuffs are expensive but I have peace of mind. Sometime when we travel, we get the dried ones. Gardening is hard and can be an emotional roller coaster; but with talk of food shortages coming, I think its important for everyone to be trying to grow food right now... even if all you have is a Sunny window. If you live in the northern hemisphere and have a south facing taller window, you could even get a little citrus tree or something bigger to put there. If you think the news is bogus and you are not worried about being able to feed your family, grow SOMETHING if only to be in touch with nature! If you want to become self sufficient and be able to eat if there was no food on the shelves, I suggest practicing gardening now. Look for a community garden close to you or if there isn’t one, look into how to start one and get some neighbors to help you like it is a community investment. Make sure you practice soil regeneration techniques when you grow food. Look into no till gardening and other methods to keep the soil healthy. Best of luck

I once read a controversial, poor selling book on female beauty, advising women on diet and how to get a beautiful female body shape I was obsessed with, being young. It said t all food is toxic to a tee or lesser degree and so it is best to only eat the bare amount needed to remain alive because the less you consume, the less toxic stuff goes into your body to make it look so ugly. Fat, pimply, awful skin, bad teeth, h as it falling out, feeling crap all the time etc because you really are full of crap. As a teenager I looked in the mirror and concluded this was definitely true and stopped eating because who wants to look and feel and be crap at that age, with a great life ahead of them that requires a good beautiful, well functioning etc body and a positive attitude etc. I did end up too thin but I was in control and it felt great not putting so much rubbish into my body. Eventually, people complained I was too thin and I noticed I had no energy. So I began to add back in a few more calorific richer but healthier, nutritious CLEAN foods eg nuts, eggs, potatoes etc. Only straight from nature, unprocessed. These types of good natural foods often get bad press eg for fat, chloresterol, salt, sugar etc content. But, unless your doctor tells you you have such health issues, why is ectly thy good natural foods? On the other hand, it is possible to consume some supposedly healthy, even natural foods, that damage your health. It's a case of how your unique body interacts with its food, its environment etc, I suspect and it helps to study this in yourself. Be your own guinea pig and learn from your own cautious experimentation what works or does not, for you .

Secondly, even with the increase in farmers growing gmo eggplant in Bangladesh, it is not commercially available in the united states and the US mainly imports eggplants from Mexico, Honduras, and Canada. This is so sad. The whole fish tomato story started with a fact, and it ballooned into a complete lie. Here's the fact. A company called DNA plant technologies, in the early nineties (not the 70s) tried putting a gene for an antifreeze protein into a tomato. The idea was to have the tomato have a bit more frost tolerance. The gene originated in a cold-water fish. The experiment didn't work. The product never came to be commercially available. Splicing fish and tomatoes together is obvious nonsense, not what happens when a gene is inserted into another species' chromosome.

I was expecting that most food companies would use the little icon, taking little or no package label space, but that some would opt for the QR code so that they could give consumers a discussion about why they chose the GMO ingredient. I was wrong. Many, probably most, of the QR codes take you to a website with just the word bioengineered, which can only amount to hiding the label because the bioengineered icon on the label takes less space than the QR code. JayGood73, Berg's video is seriously misleading about salmon. There is such a thing as genetically modified salmon, but so little of salmon is genetically modified that you will almost certainly never eat it. In a typical year, the world produces about 60 million tons of farmed salmon. When this video was made, about ten thousand tons of it was genetically engineered. That's one salmon in six thousand. If you eat salmon once a week, you might eat one GMO salmon in thirty years. But wait, the percentage of GMO salmon today is way less than it was two years ago. The company that was raising GMO salmon has stopped producing it.

No, that's not what is being referred to as detectable. When dealing with transgenic techniques, there is an identifiable genetic component that can be used to determine if a given ingredient has been modified. In most instances, this takes the form a gene construct containing the genetic information to produce a given protein, as well as the regulatory domains needed to control where, when, and how much of the gene product will be produced. When dealing with mutational breeding, and now with gene editing (CAS9, TALEN), this isn't always the case, especially when it's done properly. If a endogenous gene is engineered to have one or more point mutations, SNP in particular, there is literally nothing to differentiate such a mutation from those that are the result of plain old mutation. Don't think that a point mutation can have a profound effect on a given gene, the original source for resistance to glyphosate, 5-enolpyruvylshikimate-3-phosphate or EPSP, was from a bacterial strain that had one single SNP that resulted in an altered amino acid sequence. We've also discovered multiple single mutations that can result in such herbicide tolerance. That's what is being described, not the post processing detection.

Now, that I’m much more versed on what healthy really is, I will go without or at least be very hesitant to purchase, a particular market item if is not organic. I just can’t make myself do it knowing what these chemicals do. Unfortunately, the big lure for most are GMO mass-produced items are bigger and less expensive. In Saudi Arabia, wild or organic Norwegian salmon is more expensive than farmed salmon, almost twice as much. Farmed salmon is given antibiotics so that it does not get infected with parasites and transmit them to each other because they live in large numbers in cages. As for the beautiful pink color, they are given a colored substance. This is what I read in the Internet and one of the channels TV
