Hi Barbara - thank you so much for this review - Repetition is key for me ; - ) I always learn something new or clarify concepts. Question: What is the maximum number of trades that one should have active at any given time in your account? Often we make reference to a max % of account size that we are willing to risk but we do not indicate maximum number of open trades at any time. For example if we have an account with $100K and we are willing to risk 2% per trade and we have 10 open trades, we are actually risking 20% of account size. I would like your thoughts on this. Thank you!

It really depends on how active a trader wants to be in managing their account. Even if a trader has 10 open trades, if their risk is based on max loss, their exits may be at 50% of max loss for example. We will sometimes have 10+ active trades in our Trading a Smaller Account account. In a larger account, a trader might have a max position size of 5% for any one position. In that case, they could own up to 20 different stocks for example. ^Barb

@@tradertalkswebcasts - that’s what I do. On average I have 10-12 open positions. Thank you!

Sometimes you say 50% and sometimes you say 80% rule to exit. What number you advise 50% or 80%
@tradertalkswebcasts
Ай бұрын
Each trading plan has its own set of rules on when to exit. Our example trading plan for a Long Call Vertical or Long Put Vertical have a target exit at a 50% gain or 50% loss. The example trading plan for a Short Put Vertical is to close out the trade when 80% of the max gain is achieved. Some traders might have a 90% target, others a 50% target. It's up to each individual trader to choose a target & then track their results over time to determine if that approach is working well for them. ^Barb

What type of scrren do u have? If I work my educATION WITH A TRADER THEY NEVER TALK ABOUT SCREENS.

I seldom use screens or scans although they can be handy tools. I typically will link my chart to the Dow30, NASDAQ or S&P100 watchlist and click from chart to chart. ^Barb

Covered Calls are an awful trade structure. 1. No down side protection---NONE. 2. Upside is very very limited. Look at the analysis tab.

A covered call provides limited downside protection. A trader can add downside protection by adding a stop loss to buy back the call & sell the stock if the price breaks below a support level. ^Barb
