This is interesting. I am here because I recently got accepted to Stockholm University for Cultural Antropolog. However, I am a Swedish citizen, but I got my B.A. in the states. So I am a Swede that is learning how to be a Swedish student by a non-Swede ^^. Very helpful video, I appreciate it!

Interesting video! However, some of the aspects you mention may be true for Malmö University but not for the Swedish Academic system in general. For instance, it is standard for the engineering schools (i.e. Chalmers University of Technology or Lund Tekniska Högskola) to have 2-week exam periods occuring 4 times per year. Also, according to my experiences from Chalmers, the schedules were more or less the same for each week during each study period (8-9 weeks). It all depends on the course, however most courses had kind of a strict schedule. Lastly, the grading system also varies depending on which university you attend. Many universities have U-G-VG while the engineering schools tend to have U-3-4-5. At KTH in Stockholm they have yet another system.

Hey me and my family are planning to move to Sweden for my university but l don't speak Swedish is it difficult to study there if you don't speak Swedish
@StudyinSwedenOfficial

Hej Lynette, if you speak English well you should be able to get around quite easily. Many universites offer English-speaking programmes and have information provided in both English and Swedish. As for the rest of society the English level is quite high, we start learning English at the age of 8 and many people know a good conversational level of English. Read more about being an international student in Sweden on our blog: studyinsweden.se/blogs/2018/03/26/people-in-sweden-speak-excellent-english/ Good luck! /Study in Sweden Team

Sorry to disappoint you, but it is virtually impossible even if you spoke Swedish since there is disproportionate favoritism for Swedish citizens

I think you will get the most accurate information on how and what to do if you visit www.studyinsweden.se/. You can also visit the individual universities and colleges to find out more about their courses, programs and exchange programs. For example: ki.se/en (medical, Stockholm) www.kth.se/en (technical, Stockholm) www.su.se/english/ (multiple faculties, Stockholm) gih.se/In-English/ (sports, Stockholm) www.gu.se/en (multiple faculties, Gothenburg) www.chalmers.se/en/ (technical, Gothenburg) mau.se/en/ (multiple faculties, Malmö) www.lunduniversity.lu.se/ (multiple faculties, Lund) There are more, but those are the ones I can think of off the top of my head, and all of them are located in the larger cities. In general you will have an easier time to get in to the field of your choosing if you apply at a college or university in a smaller town so it might pay off to do some additional research. Also, a smaller town may also be more to some peoples liking. Some of the Colleges and Universities have a more local uptake and that may lead to your fellow classmates already having a life outside of their studies. In a school with a broader uptake you will find more people in the same situation as you are, having moved there to study, so there may be easier to find a group of friends to study and socialize with outside of class. Good luck! I hope you get great experience with knowledge and friends for life.
