Thanks for the tips. I’m hoping to find one of these beauties this Summer!! Did you take any videos of the bulbs you planted last Autumn? I was looking forward to seeing the blooms you waited for all Winter. 😸✌️

What is your recommendation for growing in the PNW? Dark rainy weather craftsmen house, not much light. Grow lights?

These plants need a lot of light south facing window and grow lights possibly

Sorry, this Utube guy doesn't even know what these plants are... I also live in the PNW & my mom grew these successfully for many years & I have one: Yes, put him in a nice bright window, but NOT in direct light, water consistently a small amount every few days, but don't let him get soggy, do NOT put him near any drafty place or let him get chilled below 60F, gently & regularly dead-head. (Yes it is a HE). He will probably like a warm, brightly lit kitchen or bathroom window, both places my mom kept hers. Treat him overall like a tender tropical indoors.

I live in a 9a zone, they grow like weeds in my garden. Took over my entire yard😂 in 5 years. It was a quarter of an acre.

I have a 5 year chick and hen plant and the purple flower is so big. The stem is about a foot long and the flower is almost 10 inches wide. Do you know how I would replant it or if I could trim the stem?

Those usually do well in a very gritty soil mix

Try not to repeat yourself slowly to blow time. You started at 3 plus minutes off my day.

Um... 1 thing YOU OUGHT to know is that Acalypha Hispida, aka "Chenille Plant," is NOT a "Lipstick plant," which is Aeschynanthus spp. Acalypha is from the Euphorbiaceae family & Lipstick plant is from Gesneriaceae family. They aren't remotely related, they don't look alike, & are not even in the same Order (or family)! With a mom who grew both of these, myself working in everything from landscape, to floral design, to horticulture & master gardening : I have NEVER in all my life heard a Chenille Plant confused for Lipstick plant.

PS. Next thing you'll probably hold up a Pothos & call it a Philodendron
