Exactly what I was thinking. While it is a reference to 300, yeah I'm almost surprised more people don't catch that it's a reference to the name of Vergil and Dante's father's name, Sparda. There's also a reference to Ghost In The Shell too; that Nick makes while talking to Lisa Basil. Saying to himself that, quote: "She's human?!? She seems more like a ghost in a shell". Not as clever as the Sparda reference, but it makes me chuckle a little every time I play that case, so it's not bad. And a DMC reference in an Ace Attorney game is pretty cool, as a fan of both series, and I think that they're 2 of Capcom's best I.P's, alongside RE.

The SPARDA in the Phoenix Wright game mentioned in this video is not a reference to the movie 300 simply because what Leonidas shouts in the movie is SparTa (a city state in ancient Greece). SparDa is likely a reference to the father of Devil May Cry protag Dante who's father was the demon Sparda (also the name of a sword in the first DMC). Think Among Us. But with less death. And more Glen Hugill. Back when he was an actor rather than a producer. Anyway, the show gave some hints to viewers that weren't available to contestants, such as the contestants being in alphabetical order by first name in the opening credits. Except for S1's Mole who was correctly placed alphabetically for 'Mole' rather than the person's name (That might have only been for one episode?). Or the S1 opening words of every episode being, in order, the, first, words, reveal, the, mole, is, [spoiler]. For S2 they had a similar thing. Ace Attorney doesn't actually have much in the way of Japanese legal terminology. Shu Takumi did zero research. What it is chock full of is puns, which are much harder to translate. Which is why there's so much referenational humor. Sometimes there was a difference reference in that part of the script, but most of the time it was a pun that couldn't be translated nor could the localizers think of an apporiate one to go in that spot.
@ARUCARDFTEPES
3 жыл бұрын
I don't know about the history of it's development, but I do know the translation was handled very well. It seems they took the spirit and feel of the game to heart, rather than using technical, direct translation which would ruin the humor. How luke read UR-DED without bursting into the "you are dead" song is beyond me.

Shalom 2 Peter 3:10-11 But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness,/Inspiration+ This passage in Peter shows up nicely an idea that has been raised many times by Christ before, that the true value of a man is measured not by what he has, but by what he may do without. When all is burned up, when all possessions and vainglories are dissolved, when all but our body remains, who amongst us can truly claim to be able find comfort only in God? Who amongst us, could claim still, to be able to stand before the Lord, thankful and glad? The question thrown up by Peter is not a command to cast off our worldly goods and comfort, but rather it is a challenge to Christians, to challenge us to look within ourselves and ask who we truly are, and what is truly necessary in front of our Lord./Prayer+ Lord I stand before you, cleansed of all possessions. Naked I pray Lord, that my soul still remains pure and worthy of your paradise. Show me strength in your mercy, and trust in your word as the only everlasting truth into the beyond. Have faith in me, as I continue to long for thee beyond all earthly effects, riches and property. I ask this in the name of our Lord who art in Heaven, Amen.

Jill's last line should have been, "You want STARS? I'll give you STARS!" which they oddly used right at the beginning.

R3make made enough affronts to the original, I'd say using her iconic phrase at such a random point was maybe the worst one.

Oh no, Animal Crossing spoilers! They might talk about how Tom Nook is the super secret optional True End Final Boss. Specifically his debuff attack D.E.B.T Dynamic Extortion Bank Taker That doubles the amount of your debt for every turn it lasts until it's cured, and ONLY HE SELLS THE CURE!
