Its often frowned upon to use 6 because if you fall with your finger in the gate you're gonna have to climb back up to get your finger...
@pierce6456
10 ай бұрын
This is probably my most frequently used technique, though it's kinda just whatever goes when up there tryna clip. But I push my finger straight through the gate along with the rope so it's never caught between the nose and the gate. Helps that I have skinny fingers
@domotime19

I use my middle finger to hold the caribiner still rather than my palm so my index finger never goes into the gate. Works unless you have unusually long index fingers

#6 is dangerous and generally though to be avoided for the reason of potential finger sleeving in case of a clipping fall
@hugohabicht6274
Жыл бұрын
@@ShallWeClimbyou do know that in case of a fall, the body is going down too while the rope is getting pulled down. The only way in which this is dangerous, is if you're clipping without any slack whatsoever, which on it's own makes clipping super difficult, so it isn't too dangerous
@ShallWeClimb
Жыл бұрын
@@hugohabicht6274 yep. And rope has very little to do with sleeving, it's gate and the fact that the body will fall very fast, that will pinch and separate the skin from the rest of the finger

It’s not a question of preference for me but what makes the most sense in every climbing context I have used all. In particular I think it’s important to be able to clip behind and on top of the draw. Understanding where the rope is coming from and the direction of force that would be applied if you fall

It is more useful on over hangs where the draw is hanging in space. The climber still comes out the correct side so that it isn't "back clipped"
