If somebody is struggling with what to draw, you could draw your dreams. They are original, nobody drew it before, nobody saw it but you and when you look back at it, it'll be fun and maybe you'll remember some

Scooterchick RIGHT. I can't even explain my dreams very well, because they're so weird... but I hope someday I'll be good enough at art to draw/paint my dreams realistically so that I won't have to explain them so simply. I just had a dream with Tyler Joseph in it and there was this old lady showing me Polaroid pictures of him, but the pictures were like videos and I couldn't even believe it in my dream. Anyway they were all really weird and artistic and they didn't have sound but each one had Tyler in it somewhere. Obviously I wouldn't be able to paint that but just things weird like that 😂

Cool Kid if you do that I would suggest working on just lose paper for a bit and practice a lot on that. Also a good thing to do is just work on your view of the sketch book. It’s called a sketch book because you can fill it with millions of sketchbooks. You just need to figure out a way to stop treating it like it can’t have anything wrong in it. Also it’s a way of seeing how you improve from the beginning of the sketch book and that’s a really good learning opportunity. Of course these are all just tips and you don’t have to use them. Just thought I would say something. Have a nice day!

Cool Kid Don't do that! Sketchbooks are for you and you only, so don't be afraid to make mistakes in your sketchbook! You can later on redraw the old drawings you don't like, and you can even look through your sketchbook for a reference in something you drew back on, and then, when you see a mistake, you can say "Ok, so I won't di that mistake again." It helps a lot to not rip out mistakes and drawings out of your sketchbook!

I clicked on this video for ideas and for help but i'm not intent on finishing a sketchbook. Im ten so u may not want a childs advice, but really you shouldn't a sketchbook as a sketchbook, you should see it like a friend that wont judge you, because in reality, it won't. Everyone says don't compare your art to other people but watching this video, watching anyone sketch or make art, i compare myself, and i think, what do i do that makes my art less good? And in the end, it only makes me better. Really, a sketchbook does not need to be filled up. It only needs to be used for keeping memories, love, inspiration, effort, and anything else that goes into your work. And lastly before i go because this comment is getting to long, ALWAYS PRACTICE WHENEVER YOU CAN. Thx for sticking around so long! Hope this advice helped and im gonna go draw now! Good byeee 😊

If you love to draw then don't ever let your skill make you discouraged. Just keep drawing, learning, and loving it. Over time you will get better, that I can promise you. You don't realize it for a while, but then you look back at a drawing from half a year ago and you see how far you've come. It's a slow process to get "good" at drawing, but it can be fun. And it sounds like you have the passion to do so. I believe in you!

So, there's a thing that really de-motivates me for art and I don't know how to overcome it: There's a guy in my class that doesn't stop saying this other girl's drawings are better than mine. One time I was making a watercolor painting for my art class and this really annoying and stupid came over and dump my paintbrush water cup all over the my painting! I had spent more than 3 hours on it!I was in such shock that this 4 ft demon child did that, that I just sat there staring at the running paint as this kid ran off. I went to my art teacher and told her about it. The kid said that I had punched him (tbh that's the least I would have done) but my art teacher knew he was lying. The teacher helped me clean up the water and I went and put the painting in the trash. THEN the teacher came up to my and said "it wasn't that great anyway" then went back to her desk. Don't worry. Your not the only one who has to suffer demon children and poop teachers.

Something I've done is made my own sketchbooks using the paper I like with loose leaf binder rings, thin chipboard as covers, and my trusty hole punch. This takes the pressure off of "ruining" pages because you can just take out the ones you don't like and replace them with fresh sheets and even rearrange the order of pages at a later date.

I'm doing something called the 100 challenge. You basically draw something everyday in a sketchbook (usually should be 100 pages, like mine) I've posted them online, getting many ideas making it easier. It was a fun summer activity, and I saw a bunch of improvement! Currently on day 90, and I've been very consistent about it. I hope you try it out!

I don't sketch often because i have barely any inspiration and i think my main characters are old but i don't want to create new ones and i don't have time sometimes. Which is really stupid because i don't want school related stuff in my personal sketchbook and its dumb not to draw a lot if im in art school. I suck cause im a perfectionist too so..

I really liked this video, like I already learned these things through the years I've drawn, but having someone else tell you about it from their experience somehow makes it feel more solid. Especially when they don't make it seem like heavy 'you must do THIS' kind of rules. Thumbs up, totally subscribing!

I find the part about wanting to be able to show the sketchbook to anyone so relevant. Funny thing - I never actually did show it to anyone but my girlfriend and yet I still struggle with the need for it to be perfect. I kind of solved it by getting 2 sketchbooks - one for just random stuff, doodles and actual sketches (wow, sketches in a sketchbook, how bizarre...). I just draw anything I want in this one and once I come up with an idea that I really like, I just use it for the other sketchbook - just better. In that way I can get creative any time and still have my 'perfect sketchbook'.

zhensonb She didnt mean it exactly like that. For being an artist you of course need skills but its not only that to be an artist. You need passion, determination, and time to be an artist. Otherwise without not even one of those its not that easy to paint or draw. How can you draw something without a determination or passion to draw it? Yes, its possible, but its not your best work nor did you probably even try.

It's so relieving to see this video ! My current sketchbook will be filled in a much longer time but it took almost exactly one year to fill the previous one and I was feeling so bad because I see people sketching all the time and filling a sketchbook in like 3 months !! But like you said, everybody has a different approach to their sketchbooks, and I like mine to have completely filled pages with many little sketches and rsearches ^^ Anyway, it was just to say that it relieved me as for the vision I had of myself towards my sketching :) So thank you !

The thing about a sketchbook is use it when you feel it and not try to fill it as quick as you can to get into another one... also is not necessary that your sketchbook look perfect and clean because is something personal not a trophy to show people, so be as mess as you want at the end of the day is just for you Also is really good to see your devolment into art and more than that, your artstyle so don't be afraid if some draw or painting looks bad, in the future it will help you to progress 🙃 Alice I follow you since a long time ago and everything you said and do about art is so inspirational and beautiful, maybe you have no idea how much you can do for the people from the other side but is incredible meaning and important even the little things. Sending love from Argentina 💙

Dandeliøn for me, I draw around 15 times and I fill many pages. Maybe I'm just creative but here is some things I do. I find a song (mostly musicals) that make me wanna make and animatic on it even though I never do and I use my OCs (or any character) to kinda story board it and make different faces. I like to add limbs to my drawings when I'm really bored. Like maybe an extra eye, another nose, etc. it's fun and something to experiment on! DRAW YOUR FRIENDS!! And if you really can't find anything to do, just draw those people that say "draw me!" And show it to them! My friends love it when I do this with them and they get really exited.

Your so good! Im 10 and I wish i could draw like you but every time I try something it goes wrong, then I'm sad then I try to make it better it goes worse to then I try something else and rip that page out and it goes good but most of the time I practise and try my best that's what matters. People say I'm a good artist but I work with one style then I can't do it anymore so I try something more professional... Ive with drawing and being creative all my life but if you can, can you make a video for beginners to work there way up to somethings like this drawing??

What worked for me personally, I drew a lot from reference. At first I was ashamed of that, but I noticed that I was getting better at what I was doing and soon I dared to do some things on my own, to create my own ideas and artworks. It is not a shame to use reference. Not even to copy artworks, as long you don't show it off as yours. So, good luck, dear (:
@sophiawells1442

Im just a few years older than you, and I'd say the best way to get better is practice, dont be afraid to play around with different styles and techniques, and never give up. Use referance images, draw from memory, create your own characters and draw whenever you can. I was always really creative and loved art but when I was around 10, I quit drawing because I thought I wasnt good enough. Its honestly my biggest regret. I kept tearing myself down because I wasnt as good as people who had been serious about art for 10+ years. I started drawing consistantly again last year and what's helped me improve is the things i listed before and not being afraid to completely mess up. Being young, art is a way of self expression, and just a fun thing to do. Dont stress if something doesnt turn out, you can learn from it and try again, or just decide that drawing/painting that isnt for you and move on to something more enjoyable. Its a lot easier to improve when you have fun doing it.

The thing is I can't really carry my sketchbook everywhere because I have one that's kinda a A4 size but a bit bigger. I tried to buy a smaller sketchbook (like 3 quarters of the size of an A4 page) but it felt cramped and I hated it. And usually, one day I'm super inspired and the next week or so it can't be bothered and I don't want to sketch. Rip.
