Great video/tips/channel! I made a major noob error when I started my channel. I have many video playlists. Some of the videos fit several different categories/playlists, so treating the playlists like "tags", I added them to the playlists that seemed appropriate. Big mistake. I didn't realize that KZitem considers this "trying to get more views by adding the same video to different playlists". At first some of these playlists quickly got a lot of views. Then I guess the algorhythm decided I was trying to get more views, in an inappropriate way, and suddenly I was getting very few/no views in my music playlists. Browsing "KZitem Help", I discovered where I had made my mistake. Even though I've gone through the playlists, and removed duplicates (i.e. now each video is only in one playlist), my views are still very low. I read somewhere that my channel may be "broken" because of this, and the only solution is to delete the channel, make a new one, and start over. Though it is encouraging/motivating to see a playlist get views, I didn't create them to get any income, but rather just to share interesting/etc videos with people. Just thought I'd share my experience so other noobs like myself don't make that same error. Another thing: KZitem is still deleting views regularly/retroactively (i.e. the number of views shown for these playlists is lower every other day, while at the same time the KZitem "Analytics" chart shows more people have viewed them recently).

Making utilitarian videos. That's such a great point!!! My favorite channels are the ones where I binge watch all their videos after subscribing, or I click so fast as soon as I see their name. I know they always make videos that appeal to me, not keyword search.

On August 7th 2020, I accidentally renamed my Google account from "Cesare Vesdani" to "Riddler Green 333". That caused my KZitem channel to break. Then I changed everything back to my original KZitem name called "Cesare Vesdani". How can I get rid of the misleading Google search results of "Riddler Green 333" on Google search? How can I fix everything the way it was originally?

I really enjoyed watching this video as all your other videos! ❤ I have a big QUESTION and wonder if u could help me out with that here or make new video about it. My problem 6:53 My question is: Before I had very different content on my channel. I have many subscribers about 112000 subs. Because purely just for fun I uploaded 10 years ago few videos montages made by me about Michael Jackson dancing and shows.. and just let it run cos ppl seemed to like them so I thought it can make some ppl happy... and lucky me in last 2 years my few of these videos got suggested and these videos with Michael Jackson got more then 30 million viewers! And with that I got lots of subscribers. When I decided to do my own content unfortunatelly I couldn't keep these videos anymore on my channel. But guess what everyone out there thinks something like this is gonna help, I make them wrong! It does not. It actually make things worse for your channel because all ppl who like MJ are not really interested in my own content, so that saying it makes my audience retention go very low and very hard for utube to recommend my videos with my own content. Now my question is: What would you suggest in my situation to do. I'm monetised already on my channel. I'm thinking to make video about telling ppl who are subscribed to my channel for Michael Jackson and are not really interested in my own content to unsubscribe, or what else could I do, apart from starting new channel. Thank u! 🙏🏼

In your case just make another channel and grow it on your original content. Why take down something successful. Those videos will keep making you money. Just leave them be. The MJ fans were never your community but some of them might become. If I was in your situation I'd link my other channel in the description and just focus on the new channel riding on the "want to know the content creator?" train

OK, so, here are my questions then: - How do you make nice branded thumbnails that go with your brand without it being "cookie cutter"? -I understand about not focusing on getting into searches. But, what SHOULD you focus on?
@3polygons
4 жыл бұрын
My take: keep SOME detail that is your signature, your brand iconic thing. yet overall each thumbnail is fresh and different. When the personality is key for the channel, your face is a must. Also, it seems thumbnails with faces in the thumbnail tend to be successful. That guy ones, if you realize, always show his face, but intense saturated colors where a constant. The composition was extremely similar among them. You need to break more. Suddenly have one thumbnail just with a white bold font over red, or black, or etc. or a totally different scheme color. Imo, a short sentence in bold font, super fast to get and understand, catchy and with one or two faces (or objects of very high interest), and never a large shot with tiny details, this is all things that I would see working. But I might be wrong, I'm not yet a channel owner, just someone digging many sources constantly. About the searches, dunno. Other people recommend heavily to focus on keywords, going for those with enough pool of searches per week, but not too broad competition (existing videos that are about that matter) as you get sink to the bottom with no way up. but about what to focus: I'd go for really doing what I like (consistent in one matter but broading it up a little: not super niche, but could be of the likes of certain profile of people. IE, not bonsais care only, but also videos related to other matters of plants care), focus on QUALITY, as that wins every time,. And extremely important, use the statistics tabs in your channel, to keep a daily eye on them, see how well videos do, ask your audience about that video and matter... the stats (and the comments, reactions) are going to tell you on WHAT to focus more: In the most successful ones! Even if not your exact preference, will be already on a range "close" to the niche you want to specialize more. IMO is fine to use whatever "close" matter makes your channel grow, as you will have time to double down on the very specific later or as you go. Of course, this whole method means, staying overall in a "type of user"' 's interest, a user profile (so, not a super specific niche, but about it and "around" it ), but yet at the beginning.... "testing". Testing themes and types of content withing a slightly broad area. And since the start paying that lot of attention to stats to be able to find your best path for growth. Again, not a channel owner, only a person who likes to dig here and there a lot.

I feel really stuck now. My biggest watched video is on Mayan Massage which of course can help women with endometriosis but does this mean, if they subscribe and see a whole bunch of content related to endometriosis, then it isn't matching what else those viewers are interested in? So, I avoid making more generic health related videos to reach a wider audience? The search numbers for endometriosis aren't high but perhaps people are searching for other health related things and thought this would be a good overlap to reach them. Any advice?

Hi Gillian! Thanks, first of all, but I always wondered about those SEO's advice. Where is the passion in your content if you are focusing on the next 'set of words.' It sounds like a 'hamster on a wheel approach' to content creation. I'm working on my channel and had already decided if that approach will make me successful, I was prepared for low views. Your tips are part of my planning process.

Such a good video. The fact that you don't need any text or anything in front of you to help and you just elaborate and articulate so well! Also, I loved the movement in this video and you showing how you set up your gear - great idea and worked amazingly visually, it might sound crazy but I've never seen someone talk like that on KZitem while walking around and doing things, what people usually do is either they film themselves and then record a voiceover or they just film themselves with a stationary camera from one pov. So that was so refreshing and interesting for me to see! No shaky camera, just relaxed visuals and pure quality production and info. A well curated and expanded on list of tips. Prolly one of your best videos!

14:41 kind of confirms what I have somewhat suspected for a while now. So many subscribers, so very few views. While I really love Gillian and her videos are very much to the point in terms of information, something seems lost, and for some reason her own channel seems to be "broken". Her videos get nowhere near the views they used to get, and I myself feel gravitated away from her content - again, I can't put my finger on it. I hope she does well, but it all seems just a bit too clinical and... boring? I've been watching her for years, and she has inspired me so much, but with all the changes, all the out-sourced jobs and all the kids I don't really feel any connection to her videos any more.
