What brand of photo paper did you use please? I ordered photo paper and the backside was like regular paper.

I generally use the standard glossy from Office Max or Kirkland brand, but I have been told Staples brand will work, too. I haven’t bought any in a year or two though so I don’t know if the ones I have used changed their paper any. Hope you can find something that works good!

LOL!!!! Hope beginners watch this before they try it on the glossy side! I had not seen this before the squirrel that lives in my head said, "Well, why can't you use the glossy side?" So I had to try it. And, I found out why. Had to use LOTS of alcohol, but finally got a decent picture.

Lol You sound like me 😂. I had to try it just to see what would happen even though I had heard from others not to use it. I’m not too good at just accepting someone else’s opinion of what works and what doesn’t without trying it for myself lol.

This was great! I know I'm super late to this video and I have a probably really dumb question...I can't afford yupo, but had heard about the Kirkland photo paper and have some so was super excited to try...so I just dropped a couple random colors, worked great...EXCEPT...the front sticky side was down laying on my silicone and realized part of it was completely stuck down to the silicone :( bits stuck enough that I'm not sure how to remove it. Obviously I totally did something wrong, just not sure what!! I could've had some alcohol go off the side so maybe went under (I'm new to this medium, clearly😳) I was using a hair dryer but tried to keep hold of the cool shot button but know I didn't have it cool constantly. Any help would be greatly appreciated! I realize I'm just so dumb....so embarrassing. But I have a good bit of this paper and really want to use it for this, but in the right way :) Thank you so much!!!

Oh, no! I have never used a silicone mat when inking so I have no idea what happened there. If you haven't tried it already, you might be able to get the bits of paper off by using some alcohol. I would tape a couple of paper towels down on your mat if you decide to try it again. I haven't had photo paper stick to paper towels when I have used them under my painting, plus they soak up stray bits if ink or alcohol that go off the sides lol. 💜💜

Hello, dear friend, can you tell me what is the brand of your photo paper? Where did you buy it and should we buy it weighing two hundred grams or more? thank you

Yes, it is hard to hear me. That's why I don't do videos without a voice over anymore, but I couldn't think of any other way to do this type of tutorial. If I do another one like this I will be sure to talk louder when I have the dryer running! Sorry about that!

Has anyone worked out why some photo paper works better than others? I’ve just bought a few packs, different sizes and it just soaked right through to the other side 😬

I honestly have no idea why some work and some don’t. It seems to just be something in the manufacturing process of some brands. I have used, or had recommended to me, the glossy inkjet papers from Office Depot, Staples, and Kirkland brand from Costco. I have been happy with the Office Depot and Kirkland, and know several who like the Staples. Hopefully one of these will work better for you.

Ok, I am your new subscriber tonight. Is this the Kirkland’s photo paper? I have HP, and it has writing on the back. I see the issue! I have used hp, and will now look for another. Your an awesome teacher, and a natural💕

I was using Office Depot brand in this one. I have some Kirkland’s but haven’t used it yet. I have heard several people say they really like the Kirkland brand though. Thank you for the compliments! I’m glad you enjoyed the video 😃

thanks for the info. What is your preferred substrate?

At the moment either NARA and Grafix are my favorites. They are almost identical in the way the inks act on them. NARA has a better variety of sizes and shapes, but Grafix is a little bit cheaper. Not a lot cheaper, but some. If you get the Grafix, make sure you get the opaque white craft plastic. They make quite a few other plastic sheets for crafting that are clear and other colors. I have never tried to paint on any of the other Grafix plastics so I am not sure how they would work. Both of these are cheaper than yupo. 😃💜

Thank you for the Staples comment! I knew there was another one I had seen mentioned frequently but I couldn’t remember what it was lol. I was afraid of that problem with the dryer. I’ll probably just stick to doing mostly voiceovers from now on. Thank you for letting me know! It was hard for me to tell if you all would be able to understand me since I already knew what I was saying lol. Thank you for your support of me. I love that you get involved 😃!

Thank you ...very very helpful tutorial 👍 A lot cheaper than using up my precious Yupo & if l happen to create something l like l can keep it ....unlike previous practice sessions on a white ceramic tile. Typically l managed to get a lovely picture when l was practicing adding metallics but couldn't keep it EYE ROLLING .... had it been on photo paper l could. I'm going to Costco at the weekend, so I'll pick up some photo paper. Thank you once again for the tutorial & info 👍🤗
