Glad it was helpful! I really love the jacket and still use it as my main riding jacket. I even wear it when I am not riding because it looks that good!

Great review! I bought my black Roland Sands Ronin jacket 3.5 years ago and it's been awesome for me too. My only complaint is that it's been sun bleached on the shoulders, top of the arms and back. Looking to get it re-dyed possibly. Then again, I ride in Georgia where the sun is MUCH stronger than in NYC!

Hello sir and thanks for the reply! So don't dye it just yet! If you use a leather conditioner it will bring back a darker tone. When I get a chance I will give you a brand, But yes ... the jacket rocks!

Nice jacket. I’m about to start riding again, been away for 11-12 years. Looking at the Indian Scout Bobber or the Rogue. I still have a nice armored jacket though but not anything light.

Well welcome back to riding! Both bikes are great choices. Yeah depending on where you are riding can effect what is best for you. If you do alot of urban riding with stop and go, like here in NYC, if you get hot you may want a mesh jacket. Lots of great choices out there and not to expensive. For example the Alpinestars Luc-Air V2 is a start. It goes for about $200. Here is a link Will .... www.alpinestars.com/products/luc-v2-air-jacket

Great review. I’m looking at getting a jacket and this is a front runner for sure (if I can sweet-talk my wife enough - I did recently spend a small fortune on a new Belstaff Trialmaster and some other top-shelf gear 🫣) I understand the leather is treated a bit differently in the new version. Do you think it’ll still patina as nicely as the original?

Hey Scott, if you are referring to the Ronin Signature yes you are right it is treated differently. But to answer your question in short ... once that first layer wears in it will patina naturally. You can always retreat the jacket again with the proper leather products and it will make it look new again. Personally I like the worn in look!

Great video, seems to have held up well. What conditioner do you recommend using on RSD leather jackets?

Thank you so much! Yeah it really has ... minus the little holes ... it has wore in great and looks amazing. If I wanted to look like it's original patina and look I usually give it a solid leather cleaning treatment. If I want it to still look aged I just do a light cleaning and conditioning. My suggest for you would be a company called LEATHER HONEY. They sell great products (a bit pricey, but worth it). I have left a link after this message. One note ... regardless of what product you use always test it on a area that is not very visible to see how it effects the leather to what you want. Here is the link and thank you! www.leatherhoney.com/pages/how-to-care-for-a-leather-jacket

Hey Luis, so that is a bit of a tricky question. A lot of it depends on where you live and how likely a annoying neighbor plans to call 311 or the cops. It rarely happens in my experience. On top of any chains, disc brake locks, get yourself a cover. The idea is to make it as annoying as possible. The cover is mostly to make sure you are not an easy to see target. Those guys are looking for something quick and easy. A cover helps them overlook your bike and hopefully find an easier target. I say do what you are doing until someone says something.

@@user-sw2lv3zp6o Yeah you are right in regards to protection. There are better options out there, but for a more casual rider who plans to wear no protection it is a better option. Good news is that have met some people who went down on it and the jacket did its job (urban city riding). Thank goodness and the jacket was just a little scuffed. I have also known people who have gone down in textiles and still walked away safe and gear is just a little scuffed. Bottom line ... just wear gear that is certified, legit and offers the right use for the time of year you are riding.

@@caferacernewyorkcity Agree completely. I have one RST garment, a tough duck canvas jacket for casual wear. It's so think it hasn't broken in, and I don't think it ever will. Naturally, I don't ride in it. I should qualify my first post. RST make good-looking gear, but don't ride in it. Regards, Nick
