The question of going for a sub-4 marathon is still unanswered, but to have a chance at running faster in the 2024 Chicago Marathon I felt I needed to bump up my weekly mileage substantially. Why? To build up extreme endurance-in other words, to supercharge my energy engine. Will a 70-mile training week help the effort? Only time will tell. But in this video, you’ll see the effects of such a long-distance week on my body and stamina (under extreme heat conditions no less) as I document my daily mileage, paces, what I ate, my sleep, the temperature and humidity, and my attempt at losing weight (fat). Watch all the way through to learn how I navigated this demanding training week and see if I made it to the 70-mile goal. Perhaps you will find something here that will help you with your own marathon training efforts.
