Agreed, but isn't it fascinating to realise how much of 'beauty' is in the eye of the beholder, and how an individual's perception is shaped by so many factors ? Some designs just look 'right' and are justly regarded as being timeless, whilst others seem ahead of their time and mature nicely.

This car was made with ''science'', its engineering on the suspension and powertrain as well as aerodynamic design allowed it to compete at the highest level in its day. Just because it was hand-made does not mean hundreds of drivers and engineers didn't work hard on making it as competitive as possible as well .

Chassis: 4757GT Completed in June of 1963, this 250 GTO was sold new to Count Volpi for his Scuderia SSS Republica di Venezia. It was entered at Le Mans for Carlo Maria Abate and Fernand Tavano. They failed to finish following an accident. Chassis 4757GT was then raced successfully by Abate in several hillclimbs. In Belgian ownership, it was raced in local events during the 1964 and 1965 seasons. It was then sold to the United States, where it passed through various hands before it was confiscated by the FBI in 1984 after its then owner was indicted for drugs smuggling. It was eventually sold at auction and acquired in the late 1980s by Dutch Ferrari importer Fritz Kroymans. He raced the car extensively until his business empire collapsed and he was forced to sell his collection in 2010.

A 250 GTO sold at auction in November for 51 million dollars. It was unique being the only factory owned car from the series and a 4 liter engine. It was expected to go for 60 million. The third ever built GTO sold a few years ago for 48 million. It could sell for a hell of a lot less and still be way too pricey for most anyone.

Sadly from 2030 on all combustion cars including classics will be banned from public streets in entire EU and Scandinavia :-( In Germany the Green Peoples Party gave order to shorten fuel supply from 2025 on by reducing all conventional fuel stations to only one state operated central gas station per city or county. Now they want to slow down all the gas station fuel pumps from 20 litre per minute to 2 litre per minute...From 2027 on in the EU certain car spare parts will be banned too....as exhaust systems, turbo chargers and even some engine and gearbox oils...California and New York will do the same from 2027 on.... So no investments should be done in oil burning cars any longer....They even created a new kind of crime here, called "Abgasbespaßungsverbots- und Kontrollverordnung" in German.
