I recently bought one of these. Same car only a two door, and rusted beyond help for 50.00...turns out the 455 in there is a 4 bolt main, H.O. motor!...people who knew the car, tell me it used to terrorize the neighborhood in it's day...I'm getting it ready for my 67 Goat!

Reminds me of my Grandpa giving me a 1970 Pontiac Executive with a 400 2 BBL in 1986. A tree limb came down & busted the windshield out in 1985. Instead of fixing it; he buys another vehicle. So I start & run this car every 2 to 4 weeks for about a year or so. God, I loved that old car; that was till I got in the pickup truck buying mood. I'm still sick over getting rid of that fine automobile!

I had the same engine & transmission in a '57 GMC. I built mine with a mid-range cam, 'solid state' points eliminator kit, re-curved the ignition timing with a springs & weights kit, and I put a shift kit in the transmission. And of course I had some headers made to fit around the steering box. All in all it was very little work but the power that combination made was terrifying! Good luck with your project.

I always liked the grill and headlights on that year. If it was a 2dr with the 455 I would restore it. Otherwise - I had a 76 Catilina wagon back in the day that I used to pull my stock car and trailer with until I got a good deal on a truck . Then I pulled the 455 out of the wagon and dropped it in a 77 TA that I got cheap because it had a blown 400. I had so much fun with that thing I was putting tires on the back every month .I couldn't resist doing burnouts and doughnuts. I could think of plenty of fun things to do with a 455. LOL

The Pontiacs from the 60s and early 70s had a distinct sound that I will never forget, I Love the old Pontiacs. No other car had that sound, Olds also had their own sound, and Buick had their own sound. I was able to tell if it was a Pontiac or Olds just by the sound. GM had different exhausts to make them special in their own way.

I had a 1962 comet, no rust, no dents, bought in Wisconsin for $300.00. Easy engine to work on. Six cylinder, three on the tree, high beam switch on the floor My friend thought the turn signal was the gear shifter and broke it off. I had to tap a new hole. Bought it in winter with a bad heater core, that was a cold ride back to Illinois.

That front bumper and grill would probably look good , narrowed down , on a rat rod . Years ago I bought a 76 nova that had been setting 18 years under a bunch of pine trees. The break and fuel lines were rotted away , so we wedged a milk jug with gas between the grill and radiator . To get the car home , we run a chain from it to a truck , and used the car to pull the truck and the truck to stop them both lmao
