==========
This documentary (in Dutch, with English subtitles) focuses on how the Hindustani orchestras in Suriname came into being (since approx. 1940) under the influence of the Indian film industry, also through the rise of Indian gramophone LP records in Suriname and through inspiration through radio programs. New music groups were established as an "orchestra" due to this influence and many existing baithak gana and qawali bands also switched to orchestral music. Furthermore, the first own compositions of our Sarnami artists are highlighted.
Music formations such as Bharat Roshni, AWR, Shah Noor Sabha, Indian Orchestra, Veena Orchestra, Sohanie Orchestra and many more are highlighted in the documentary. It also includes various songs played by Yaadgaar Orchestra in the style of the old Orchestras (1940-1970).
