All the vintage dealers in the UK are ignoring CITES. They are legally required to supply CITES certificates for anything they sell with Brazilian rosewood or any other endangered woods. It is also illegal to display them never mind sell them. They all completely ignore the requirement and leave their customers to deal with the consequences. If you see a listing for a vintage guitar and it doesn't come with a correctly applied for certificate, the seller is breaking the law. Kudos to you for doing it the right way.

Thank you for the comment. Yes, this is correct and very frustrating for us. Especially when we have to educate folk why we cannot sell their guitar for them ! Thanks for watching 😊

Is this so? I’m not at all up on these regulations but I thought that they had been relaxed over existing items eg furniture, instruments etc. Also don’t these regs only apply to the international movement of such items governed by CITES? Should UK vintage dealers be assuming that their buyers are overseas?

Wow. What an arrogant statement. Japanese basses are better than USA made Basses! Remember Mr Leo invented and designed these gorgeous instruments. And Fender USA have been producing these fine pieces in California or decades. Every USA made Fender I’ve ever held in my grubby hands have been an absolute pleasure to play. And you know, I can’t say the same about Japan made instruments. In my opinion. Of course!

And your opinion is valid. This comment was partially in jest, which regular viewers would have noted based on previous video content. The comments basis is that there is an assumption that because an instrument is made in the US, it’s far superior, which is often not the case. This comment also only relates to the Japanese Fenders (which are usually consistent in quality) and not other Japanese made guitars, some of which can be awful! Thanks for watching ! 😊

Who invented the Strat,Tele,P bass on so on? FENDER! So there IS a big difference between a USA Fender and a Japanese knockoff. Japan have always coppied American popular consumer items. And no matter how much they know the are copycats! An American Fender or Gibson will always sound and play better and they hold their value. Japanese scrap is worth piss all!

Nice to have all these guitars but this collector thing is nonsense! Guitar companies didn't build guitars for greedy collectors to make money on, they made them for guitar players to play music on! 👎🖕

I'm not prepared to repost but in a nutshell the crux of my earlier comment centred around describing why I would never use Guitar Auctions.

Some people just love winning the bid, auctions are a form of gambling, mostly for the rich, or those who don't mind paying extra for what they want. 😊👍
